Maybe im wrong, but I think this regime is thinking its more important to make the playoffs and get that experience than get say a 2nd round pick for Eberle. I think they re sign Nelson and Lee.
- kindlyrick

I'm hoping they sign Lee and Nelson and also Lehner.

But if Lee, Nelson, Eberle, Lehner, and Filpula aren't signed a few days before the trade deadline, I'm listening to offers. And some, or maybe all, are gone depending on the return. That's even if we are going to make the playoffs.

I don't like losing good players for nothing.

This isn't your islanders of old...….there's a ton of talent in the system, and right now building the winning culture they speak of starts and stops with playoffs. They're gonna keep Ebs and try and gain some post season experience. Im fine if Ebs walks for nothing...….he was a rental anyway, and quite frankly the second rounder they'll fetch in return isn't as important as having a full roster heading into the post season.

The re emergence of Lehner is great, but I think the isles have Sorokin pegged to be their franchise goaltender for years to come.

"27. Oliver Wahlstrom, RW, New York Islanders
Skating: 55
Puck Skills: 60
Physical Game: 45
Hockey sense: 55
Shot Grade: 70

Wahlstrom’s season is the subject of much debate. With every scout I’ve talked to this season, his name comes up at least once. Last season Wahlstrom seemed to score at will, putting up monster numbers at the USNTDP. He still has his big shot and his great hands, but his freshman season at Boston College has been a bit rocky. His compete level and pace hasn’t always been the best, per scouts who’ve been to B.C. games. That said, he still gets his chances, makes some plays and had a good world juniors. I’m not ready to get off the Wahlstrom bandwagon, but it would be nice to see a four-point weekend from him soon."

While his season has been a bit worrisome I think a lot of people forget that many of these college hockey players now are not kids. As one of the US kids alluded to before they played Russia. College hockey ages are getting older every year. Many kids try Juniors, or other avenues to break into Pros and if unsuccessful go to college afterwards. It might just take some time for an 18 year old kid who is used to being MUCH bigger and stronger than his piers to play with 22, 23 year old men.

I am a draft picks and Prospect hoarder. I hope they sign Lee and Lehner.. then trade everyone else for picks. Brock, Fil, see if you can get a 5th or 6th for Moose Knuckle and Sbisa. Move Pelech too... I want about 15 picks in this draft.

My opinion, but this kid opted for BC because there are less games and the season isn't as wearing. He's just doin his time until he's ready for the NHL. Im not one bit worried about him......he's just getting laid and biding his time.

The isles are proving to be a playoff team right in front of our eyes, and you're stockpiling picks? Why? This team isn't in year one of a rebuild, as seen by their record. Having 15 picks does nothing for this team next year. They need to build around what they have now, not in 5 years. They already have the prospects, and there are only so many spots open.

Well we don't know that...….and if my memory serves, Sweet Lou is the OG with prying Russian players out of there....

Let us not forget that Komarov is here for 4 years...…..im sure he speaks KHL fluently to help with the transition

So you are in favor of letting 6 players go to UFA status because we make the playoffs?

I'd rather see what's offered at the trade deadline if none of them are signed.

If Isles make the playoffs, they better be serious players for Duchene or Panarin. Playoffs, Lou, Barry and the days of only being able to sign Leo type players better be over. No excuses.

The only way Sorokin can come over is for CSKA to release him from the final year of his deal (which isn't going to happen). Otherwise, he stays in the KHL one more year.

The only player I think they let go is Eberle. But yes, I think this regime goes for the distance in the playoffs rather than stockpiling picks in rounds 2-6

If you can't get them signed.. u gotta move them. I would not be upset if they extended Lehner, Brock, Lee, and Eberle, but if not I think you have to get something for them and let a kid play.

Yep, and while he probably is there one more year, things can change. It will be interesting to see what happens either way, but his numbers are dominant. Everyone is intrigued...

I think He chose BC b/c he's a Massachusetts's kid who gets a free year or 2 of college at BOSTON College. He gets a chance to win a national Championship, and hopefully develop into a NHL star in the process. (I don't think Less games had anything to do with the decision).

Just seems highly unlikely to me that CSKA is going to be nice and just let one of the top goalies in the KHL walk away to the NHL.

They are going to extend Lehner, Nelson and Lee. I think its pretty much guaranteed. All three have been given jobs at the start of the year, and all three have done whats been asked.
