If they were out of it sure but unless you’re getting something back that’s gonna help you now or long term you dont get rid of him just to make room for a guy who for the most part has been a bust up until a couple of months ago
- Vukota

Have to think any deal around Eberle would be picks. I still like the idea of giving JHS a run in the top 6. I'd be happy if the Isles could bring back a 2nd and 4th or 5th. Making the playoffs would be nice but I do not see this as being a playoff or bust type season. I think it's very important to find out about playing like Toews, JHS, and MDC. It will help in terms of deciding on offseason moves and going forward.

Maybe I was unclear in what I meant but I was talking about right now and not just getting rid of him to make room for Dal Colle because they guy has finally had a couple of good months in the minors. I wouldn’t sign him long term and I hope they move him for something when the time comes if that helps
- Vukota

I agree with that. You don't trade away a proven player that's not performing up to expectations to make room for a younger unknown. To me its all about potentially losing him for nothing.

If Eberle can only bring back a 6th or 7th round pick you keep him the rest of the way. If you can get a decent return and it opens up room to find out about JHS that's a plus.

I have an idea! Let's trade Eberle to the Rangers for Ryan Strome.

Good idea. Then we can trade him to Edmonton for Nurse. We'll make Snow stop bringing everyone coffee for an hour and have him call Chiarelli.

My bad Jimmy. It’s just that I’m pretty much ready to file for fan divorce from the Oilers.

Sir! There is no divorce! Once a team has chosen you, you are committed for life. Otherwise being a fan would be meaningless. Besides, do you think anyone would have chosen the pain of being an Islander fan these past 25 years?

I don't think anyone is pushing him out the door, just that it probably doesn't make sense to give him a big extension at his age and a raise from the $6M cap hit he's already got...so it's not a bad idea to move him and add some more assets.

But if they're in the thick of the playoff hunt come the end of Feb and they decide to keep him I think everyone would understand for sure.

Nicely, but inaccurately. There are some here who think it is a sin to "lose an asset for nothing" even when in the thick of the playoff race.

Last year was different, in the sense that PJ Putz should have been moved at the deadline when it was obvious that the Isles were out of the playoffs. This year the team has the same record after 36 games, but seems to be playing better so far. If they drop out of the race next month, then you have to move guys on expiring contracts, unless you re-sign them.

It’s a sin when you cannot attract good players to your team. Hopefully that is changing and it will not hurt much losing players for nothing. Isles may need to wait until Belmont though to become a prime destination.

I think Snow enabled Pajama Putz to be able to bolt the way he did, which I still find a kick in the Nutz to the franchise that drafted him and he “loved” and “wanted to stay with”. Look Snow didn’t build around him and let the core group he played with walk so I can understand JT leaving. He earned the right to explore free agency and Snow balls let him but it’s the way he kept saying he wanted to stay that pisses me off.

Lou has been left in a bit of a poop storm as far as UFAs on this team but I have trust in Lou and Trotz keeping the pieces they find key in building a team to win the ultimate prize and use the others wisely in obtaining and adding key pieces that make the team better to obtain said goal.

Stupid three point games mean hardly anyone falls out of the bubble. If the Isles make the playoffs does anyone think they will make a deep run? This is a throw away year. Trade anyone not willing to sign before the deadline.

He’ll sign. Makes no sense to name him Captain for a partial season, only to trade him at the deadline.
