I thought for sure That Leddy give away at the blue line was going to be the end of us. I have to give Leo props on the ensuing 2-on-1. He poked the puck off their stick.

I really like mayfield he does a great job most of the time and manages to get some points too
- Upstate_isles

Yeah, he's been pretty much exactly what I hoped he'd be when he was in the system. When they were prospects, I had hoped he and Pedan would become a "Bash Brothers" third pair that would see limited time but balance out the typically undersized Isles' D. Pedan...well...didn't work out so well, but Mayfield's more or less filling that exact role.

Probably a while. Just cannot see a trade happening now and I'd rather not call up Gionta.
- ses111

I can agree that the alternatives aren't very good. But I sort of hate to break up the "killer B" line which has been playing well lately. Oh well, it's either Gionta or Connor Jones....

If Hickey is hurt every Isles fan is hoping for Toews or even Aho, but you know we are getting Sbisa or God forbig Seidenberg.

If they can't see how much speed helps in the NHL they are crazy. That 3rd period we kept rolling lines of kids flying around the ice and causing havoc. When you have guys like Barzal, Tito, Leddy and even Casey flying around driving you nuts and then add another guy who can fly like Ho Sang it drives teams nuts. I really hope they are smart enough to let this kid play and he is smart enough to keep listening to whatever they are telling him.
- niteislander

Ho Sang was good on the forecheck. He does add much needed speed and skill. Toews would make a fine addition as well.

Looks like everybody but Tanner Fritz, who missed Sunday's game (lower), is on for the Sound Tigers this morning.

Doesn't sound like anyone is rushing off to Arizona, but I guess they could fill a potential Nelson-void with Bailey or Lee and stick Johnson in somewhere.

That's the key. Barzal seems more than willing to sacrifice points and even some confidence in the near-term in order to rebuild himself into a more dangerous and complete player. Ho-Sang going through that same process might be more of an adventure.

I hope they keep playing him and, even if it never clicks, that he just has a nice run putting up some points. If nothing else, that should make him trade-able. And if it does click over that time and he sticks around, even better. But he's gotta play so we're not still having this conversation a year from now.

They probably aren't flying Toews or Aho out to the west coast with Sbisa along on the trip. If Hickey is out long-term I think Toews may finally get his shot when they head back east

I have been hoping he would turn into something special ever since I heard about his work ethic. He obviously has some set backs and give-aways that drive you nuts at times, but you have to expect that as a younger player. I think/hope he will become a really solid 5/6 D-man for Isles.

Yeah, I was thinking we'd see Sbisa even if they did call up Toews, as Sbisa's sat around for quite a while now and coaches always like to get those guys ice time.

I would leave Ho Sang up the rest of the year. If he has a rough game you can always sit him and then I put him right back in.

Makes sense. I love the idea of adding Toews or Aho's speed and skill to the backend.

Yeah...for a little while it looked like maybe he was getting a little too much thrown at him too fast. He was already adjusting to getting all of the other teams' attention without Tavares there, and then also changing a lot about how he approaches the game overall. But it looks like it's starting to click now, regardless of Butch disagreeing with seemingly every decision he makes with the puck

Aho has been on a tear lately, but Toews is definitely the guy that's earned the call-up.

Seems Bridge has a couple of players on a tear. I really enjoyed the skill and speed Ho Sang brings. Even if Ho Sang does not score, he is a threat and he is a big help on the forecheck. He also brings the benefit of challenging some of the vets on the team.

Ho Sang generates more offensive possession in a period than some of the other guys do in entire games. If absolutely nothing else, the defense has to respect his speed/skill and is going to back off a bit. As long as he can play decent defensive hockey and not try anything too selfish...he really belongs playing with the big club.

I hope the big plus in hiring Barry is he can coach players like Ho Sang. I think Ho Sang needs to stay in the lineup and Johnson and Moose can rotate in for players like Martin and Cal as needed.

You can see him hustling back a lot more, it's glaringly-evident he's starting to buy in. If he can keep himself in the lineup in Trotz's system then that's a big win for the organization. Seemed like popular opinion was that JHS and MDC were starting to fade a bit, in terms of value.

Even if he's not producing on the scoresheet, he adds an element to the third line that didn't exist prior. It's just spreading the talent from the top-6 to the top-9...without depleting the top-6 by taking someone like Beau out and dropping him down a line.
