Come on they all can shoot . Quick puck movement for the quality shot is what the PP is built for. Quality over quantity.
- nyisles7

I'd like to see either Boychuk or Pulock on the first unit. Aside from giving Barzal one more option, it should open up more room for Lee, Eberle, and Bailey to do what they are already doing. Sure, Leddy can shoot the puck, but I don't think teams are respecting the shot from up high the way they would if someone more dangerous was there.

That's a good general rule, 7, but too much time is spent passing around the perimeter, which becomes so predictable that the PK figures it out and intercepts one of the passes, and then it's back to square 1. 30-45 seconds gone and not even a shot attempt. It just seems like the other teams have figured out that certain Islanders almost never shoot, so the PK can play the pass.

Yeah, that's a good point, UIF. Leddy doesn't possess a hard slapshot. That's another reason to move him off PP1.

The PK has to respect every shot whether it’s a Boychuk or Pulock bomb or just a wrist shot that gets through.
They can’t say hey we won’t cover the pass to Leddy and give him and open shot. They are going to try and cover all the passing lanes and block every shot.
Again changing up personnel could work of course but when you say ( not you btw ) there aren’t enough shooters on the PP its foolish. Now saying guys aren’t shooting when they have the opportunity is another thing but puck movement and getting the goalie moving from side to side is the plan for the quality shot in today’s NHL. The 5 on 3 vs Tampa was a prime example of guys having a shot and not taking it. Pulock was out there on that one.
The days of just get it back to the point and blast it PP is over. To many shots are blocked and or go wide and then are cleared.

I would bet that a very low percentage of PP goals are scored from the point. Don’t know this as fact but looking at teams set up I would think that’s the case.

Just my opinion of course.

You give Leddy an open shot on the PP he will make you pay. Foolish imho to think that’s the opposing PKs plan.

Watched the tape of the game. PP is sputtering which is going to happen throughout the season. PK gave up 1 in 5 opportunities. Quite honestly I think the Isles deserved to win both the Tampa game and last nights, better team 5v5.
You win some you shouldn’t and lose some you should win.

jesus no words here seriously the power play is about getting the goalie to move side to side or getting a redirect in front and thats what they are looking for. This is in response to theguy

Watching the game now and Bellows just had a nice goal for BPort. Fought hard along the boards to get the puck to a teammate, then got in position in front, got the puck, and rifled it in.

Well, Leddy hasn't been making anyone pay this season. He has 0 goals, 3 assists. I don't know how many of those assists came on the PP.

Hard slapshot or not, as I said above, my main reason for moving him from PP1 to PP2 is because PP2 lacks a puck mover. It's painful watching PP2 playing the game in the neutral zone (or worse, their own zone ).

Nowhere for free, I don't think. I bought a monthly pass for AHLTV a little while back.

As in Washington Trotz’s PP1 is getting the majority of the 2 mins and I’m not taking Leddy from PP1 and effect it’s entry and puck movement to make 2 mediocre PPs.

We just have different opinions here.

Very cool, didn’t know about that

Looks like they won again. Seems like Thompson has become a good coach all of a sudden under Trotz’s structure and schemes

OK, so you're recommending no changes whatsoever to the PP which is ranked 23rd in the NHL. Got it.

No I’m saying it foolish to say there aren’t enough shooters on the PP and that’s why it’s not working, which was the original post I commented on.

Again we have a different opinion And your wrong

Yeah, but you replied to me and my main point was there were two puck movers on PP1, and zero on PP2, so Leddy should be spared for PP2. It isn't as if he's needed for his shot. And if we have opposite opinions, and you say you're always wrong, I want my side of the argument.

wow never thought of that...hmmm coulda fooled me.. guess them making the same passes every game is really working well... and only bailey making that same shot from the circle every game is really working well... they know barzal has not taken many shots on his side he loves to pass it through the middle to bailey... but no i know i am so wrong on this too

2 for 23 in the last 5 or so games... but no problem on the pp none at all

I was wondering how many times Barzal and Leddy could pass back and forth to each other on one power play without passing to anyone else or shooting. It was six times on one PP last night😂

PP has been bad it’s not even a debate.
