I watched the second and third periods of Bridgeport's game. As far as Isles prospect forwards, apart from the points they put up, the order they stood out in is Ho-Sang first, who was probably the best player on the ice for either team and was constantly driving the offense during his shifts. He's got speed, hands, and vision...but he still makes probably too many dumb and risky passes through the middle of the ice.

Dal Colle was next, who didn't look bad at all. He looked hungry...he wanted the puck and put himself in position to get it. His hands looked OK, too...taking off-target passes in stride and things like that. Overall, better than I expected (although, what I expected was Vukota's gif of that guy falling all over the place at the public skating session, so it wasn't a high bar to clear).

Bellows didn't really stand out to me. The good news is he wasn't afraid to go into the corners or along the boards and throw the occasional hit. But mostly he took his shifts without me noticing him. His second goal was a nice shot right off the draw.

I've always thought it was harder to judge d-men in the AHL since it's a lot less structured than the NHL...everything looks a lot more chaotic on D once teams get a good forecheck going. But, that said, Toews made everything look pretty much effortless, and Wotherspoon was the other d-man that looked a cut above the others to me.

I'll take that. I'd probably take him being a useful 3rd liner at this point to be honest. Anything better than that and I'm thrilled.

These stand out thats an elite shot

https://twitter.com/JLSto.../1059237960565121025?s=19

Also not noticing him in his own end means he wasnt terrible

- Upstate_isles

Yeah, I didn't see the first goal he had since I only watched the second and third. The second goal was nice, though...his shot is the real deal. The camera tracked the wrong guy to the bench after that goal (Seth Helgeson) and I was thinking, "Damn! That dude's got a hell of a release!" Then on the replay I saw it was Bellows

It probably sounds weird to say a guy with two goals didn't really stand out...what I mean by that is I didn't really see him involving himself in the plays...either fighting for space to make himself available for a shot or fighting for loose pucks. You're right, though, that he didn't look terrible, or even bad. He just kind of went with the flow. Basically, I didn't see him and think, "This kid's obviously ready!" Maybe that means he's exactly where he belongs for now. Or more likely it means nothing at all since I only watched him play for two periods

Yeah I’d say Legwand is best case (and rather unlikely) scenario.

Still it’s good to see him starting to excel, regardless of the league.

Four disappointing years into his career as an Islanders prospect and I really would be happy if the guy could be a 20-20-40 player that could play respectable defense. Obviously I hope he can just be another big body that can clean up in front of the net like Lee, but I don't see that as particularly likely.

I get the feeling that his size netted him a lot of points in juniors and he's had a rude awakening in the pros.

Nope. Dal Colle will never play another game as an Islander. He’ll be involved in a blockbuster trade with the Oilers.

No being negative chief. Isles have won 5 straight and MDC will be a fine NHL player.

Exactly this. Now he’s actually had to learn how to skate and play intelligently. Hopefully it’s not beyond him.

Not quite.

Lucic and Puljujarvi for Dal Colle is probably my best case scenario.

Not being negative at all, I'm rooting for the kid. I hope he ends up being a scoring line player. Just saying that this far into what's been a disappointing career to date, I'd be fine with a 20-20-40 kinda player, assuming he provided some value on defense.

I gotcha but MDC now has Barry and Barry's brilliant coaching reaches Bridge.

Highlights from that BPT rout of WBS. Ho Sang looked unbelievable. Bellows' release on his first goal was so fast.

Imagine he puts it together? The odds of someone being as terrible as he's been and then turning it on and becoming a reasonably-valuable NHL player have to be microscopic
