I recall someone saying Cizikas was really a 2C. Can’t recall who said it though.
- Wildschwein

I think it was vukota as he said "yo that n_gg_ can score". Also im not racist it was a quote

100%I know.

I was surprised to see the Preds at #24. I guess they too look for the quality over quantity because those boys can score.

- nyisles7

Yeah they have a ton of skill up front. I don't think any team in the NHL has as many underrated players as they do. Forsberg, Arvidsson, Ekholm, Ellis are all criminally underrated.

Flipulla to me has been a pleasant surprise so far. As usual I’ll say hopefully he can keep it up but he has been positionally sound and flashes some offense here and there.

He was the 1 guy I couldn't understand why you guys were so against. He actually isn't a bad player

Didn't Martin get hurt last night?
- David_Volek

Yeah but he came back. He caught the boards when he went to hit someone and it looked like a shoulder. My guess is he's just really sore and they're giving him a few days off to heal up.

That kid can play anywhere needed. Strong short stride with tenacity. Any contending team would love to have him. He’s an intrical cog on any wheel.

There are some teams that are going to shot from everywhere. Also if you look at who the Islanders played against so far, The Preds, Sharks, Canes and Pens all 2 x's I think these teams are probably the highest or close to shot producing and potent offenses in the NHL.

Looking at results and again the teams they have played you have to be very pleased and have to think Trotz will address the quality/danger area shots against. If you jam up the crease and block shots and keep the shots from outside with the goalies having clean looks its like playing catch. They can have as many of those shots as they want.

The key to this season was keeping the GA down because this team has the talent to score. So far so good.

- nyisles7

I'd love it if the Isles spent more time in the other team's zone, obviously, but even more important I think is positioning when the other team gets in their zone, and that's been worlds better. I'm not sure if some of the people only looking at advanced stats and then writing articles are looking at where the shots are coming from and what teams are doing with the zone time they get.

The first Pens game is I guess an extreme example of that, even in the period Trotz called their worst of the season. Yeah, luck had quite a bit to do with why the Pens weren't up 4-0 after the first and why the Isles had a 50% shooting percentage by their fifth goal. But it was more than that. Almost every shot the Isles did get was a high-percentage odd-man rush, while the Pens, even as they looked scary enough passing the puck around the zone, spent a lot of their zone time on the perimeter.

I'm sure that's not exactly how Trotz draws it up, and I wouldn't want to see them play it that exact way every game, but they won't be playing a Pens-type offense every game either.

I think he got hit between the pads in muscle and when he went to put weight into it the muscle said no but it could be his shoulder too

I can’t believe there’s even a sniff of negativity with Cizikas. He’s a winner. He was the reason the isles scored, having blocked a shot on the PK and then head manning off the boards for the breakaway. I think people on here get extremely caught up in the fact that he was a “4th line” center under capuano and weight. He can play and he plays the right way.

Who cares where he’s put? If he’s given a job he’ll do it. His stride is very similar to Sean avery and whether you liked Avery or not he could play the game. His game is a defensive game but he’s got hands and wheels and is strong on the PK.

Side note : Nelson is playing first line center and while he’s not a true first line center he’s doing his job thus far.

I don’t even recall I’m just a big fan of Cizikas and i feel like a lot of “fans” get caught up in the fact that he was on the 4th line under Crappy and Weight. If you asked him to play in front of the net on the PP he’d have success. The kids a beast.

I don't think anyone made a huge deal about him. Even if he did stink, it's a dirt-cheap one year deal.

Nobody is crapping on him, he's just not a scoring-line center. He's a defensive guy and that's where he belongs.

Whatever as long as he’s getting minutes. Everyone’s interchangeable in the NHL. You don’t make it to this league if you’re pigeon holed. You gotta be able to adapt. Cizikas can play anywhere. He’s extremely underrated.

Another win for Rangers mdw.

I did not have a big problem with Filly on a one year deal.

I can’t blame you for not remembering. This board consists of a rather argumentative bunch. Kinda gets hard keeping track of who said what.
