Yea not everyone develops on the same schedule and it would be a nice surprise if MDC ended up being a useful NHL'er. I've pretty much just written him off as a career AHL'er at this point, so some success is nice to see. Still a small sample, he's gotta keep it up if he's ever going to get a real shot to stick with the big club.

Bust....and really there's no place for him on this team.

Bertuzzi is a bad comparison, but I know what you're saying. Dal Colle has a few pts more than Bernier and a few pts worse of a +/-. I don't see anywhere where he fits in the top 6 now, or in the future. Truth be told, they didn't need that position when he was drafted. That's another pick that shoulda been traded for something they could use now.

Side note : Ho Sang is goaless in 7 games and a -9. He's not looking too promising either.

The odds are very much against MDC at this point but you never know. You keep him in Bridge and see how things go. Ho Sang I cannot see working out.

Now his value is about a one piece more than you or I. But, when you're looking at the 5th overall pick and your need is a dman, why not trade said pick for something that's needed. 12 years of watching the draft scratching my head. Actually longer, if we go back to Milbury taking Nilson over Parise. Then again you prob could say the same about the Rangers drafting. That Mcilrath pick was a bit cray cray as well

Even if he really stood out at the AHL level, where does he fit in on the left side on this team. Is he taking that top 6 left side from Lee, Ladd, or Beau? I don't think so

I mean, there's no sense in rooting against the kid. You can always find a room for talent if he gets his act together. I think this roster is going to look very different next year. I have a strong feeling Eberle and Nelson will be gone at the deadline, if/when we are out of the playoff picture, and rightfully so. Eberle should fetch a late 1st and a prospect and Nelson could get something like two 2nd's and a lower prospect.

I wouldn't say im rooting against him, but after 4 seasons of watching him not be an NHLer, I've moved on, and I bet the isles will too.

I agree this team will look different next year, and rightfully so. I think its gonna take 2-3 years to get them into a consistent playoff team

Corey Pronman did a list of his top-100 NHL players under-25 years old. Here's the Isles players that made it:

7. Mathew Barzal, C, New York Islanders
Birthday: May 26, 1997 (21)
Previous rank: Not eligible
Barzal was one of the most dangerous offensive players in the NHL as a rookie. He’s a fantastic talent, with high-end skill and even better vision. I’ve always liked his skating due to his elusiveness, but he’s also added so much explosiveness the past few seasons. The Islanders are in for (more) pain and building years, but he’s a big piece to start with.

64. Ryan Pulock, D, New York Islanders
Birthday: Oct. 6, 1994 (24)
Previous rank: Not eligible
I’ve been a Pulock skeptic for as long as I can remember, but lately he’s started to win me over. He moves the puck well, has a big shot and shows good enough hockey sense at both ends to be a reliable defenseman. I don’t love his quickness, but he got better defensively over the years despite not being incredibly fast and became a top guy for the Islanders. His shot generation has also been quite high.

81. Anthony Beauvillier, LW, New York Islanders
Birthday: June 8, 1997 (21)
Previous rank: 77
Beauvillier was always a player I had a soft spot for. He might not be incredibly dynamic, but he’s still quite skilled, very smart, works hard and, at his peak, he’ll be a guy who plays on both special teams and is a consistently above-average forward. He had a great second half last season offensively, and I’m intrigued to see if he can carry it over to this campaign.

I guess something had to be written, and they don't have a blogger. I just don't get the whole notion of Wang saving this team from moving. I think he did what was best for him, and rightfully so.

Maybe "rooting against him" was the wrong phrase, but I'll never knock an Isles prospect for doing well. Am I convinced that it will hold up? Nope, not yet. But right now he's putting up really good numbers in the AHL and it's nice to see. At worst, he's the same guy we already thought he was. At best, he's either an NHL'er with the Isles or we can toss him in a trade and not feel so bad about losing him.

I don't think MDC will ever be a Top 6 forward in the NHL. He could be a bottom 6 player though and a good one. Losing that "top 6" tag would help him a lot. That happens often with players they are not what they were drafted at and the team/organization takes a while to figure it out. Manny Malhotra is a good example of that.. He never was a top 6. Once he was no longer looked at for 30 goals a year he had a very nice long NHL career. almost 1000 games in fact.

Ho Sang is playing hurt from what I hear.

MDC being a good 3rd line player may not be impossible. Just too soon to tell and no reason to totally write him off at this point.

There is some disagreement among fans on this topic. I feel for his family that he passed and I would never blaspheme the guy after he died (at least not this soon😂)but I’ve kept my comments to myself since his passing with reason. But it is kind of funny how everyone is talking about him as some kind of hero now.

Still looking for another boat not so easy to find these days. Incredible how dry the market has been.

~$900M should help open up some options...you can probably pick up a brand new Viking 92 enclosed bridge
