Take the two points and run, im sure they will continue to teach and learn the new system and trotz is aware of the problems. Barzal didnt seem as fast but ice was awful, he called it their worst in north ametica them a teammate joked he hadnt been at the barclays in a while

It is very early but last night convinced me we need Toews more than ever. Isles need another dman like Leddy and Pulock that can move the puck. Pelech did some good and bad. He still needs to find that consistency.

I did see some backchecking. I think it was Tito that broke up a rush later in the 3rd. Not 100% on that. But I did see skating to get back though.

Could not believe forwards actually found the D zone last night.

If the season ended today, the Isles would be in the playoffs.

I did notice the puck bouncing around a little. Thought I saw a couple guys kind of catch a rut. Like a little stumble or something as they went to transition out of the zone.

Well.. 2 points to start the season is not a terrible thing...

Positives: I loved seeing them actualy having structure. I saw a few times guys like Leddy stopping himself from pinching and getting back to his position. 44 shots is obviously not a good situation but the non stop odd man rushes have certainly stopped. We did not leave guys wide open in front of our net..etc. I think it will take time for this team to learn how to generate offense and keep puck in offensive zone when they are clearly being drilled with "defense first" by all coaches. ... I loved what I saw...

that said Sbisa is just terrible. Pelech had an awful game too... Boychuk ..ugh. This team needs some of that youth and speed we have in B-port. I hope the coach sees that in the very near future. Fritz was fine and obviously Fillpula isn't going anywhere for now.. but when u look at ice time it's really over weighted and that is not sustainable. Need to even out the lines... I would like to see Eberle on top line and move Bailey back to second line. I would love to see Ho Sang on 3rd line to get these guys some speed through zone.

.. anyway.. we won.. yay.

The very little i saw I did notice that there seemed to be some structure and a system. Obviously since there was no accountability with the previous regime, it'll probably take a little while for these guys to settle into it. It's a step in the right direction though.

Send your hate comments to Thomas Greiss. That was the best game he's played in over a year.

You can't be too disappointed that they found a way to get a point.

Probably the best game he's played since the last time he played the Canes and managed a 45 save win in that one.

Nah, the Canes played a hell of a game. Got in the goalie's face all night and Svech was about 6 inches combined from having a hat trick. Isles had no business being in it.

One thing I definitely noticed is that the Isles played with a lot more structure through the neutral zone than they used to. Did a good job of forcing turnovers, too.

As in he's thinking why did he waste his time coming here? Back to the K. I was really hoping to see how he did.

Have to think the Canes will move one of the dmen for a forward? Canes looked good last night and outplayed the Isles. Greiss stole that game. Coaching will be much better for the Isles this year obviously.

Faulk would be my bet if anyone will take him. Guy made a couple dumb plays with the puck.

EK had the Isles as one of them. I'd like to see Toews get the call soon. Rather see what Toews and maybe Wortherspoon can do first before looking to trade for a dman. Going to be interesting to see how Lerner plays in goal to see if the Isles will need to bring in someone else in goal with Greiss.

I'd like to see Toews as well. Sbisa in the D zone looks akin to a moose trying to eat with a fork.

Little bit of a surprise to me. He sounded pretty committed to putting the work in and giving this a legitimate shot, so I was wondering if he'd be willing to put some time in at the AHL level to adjust to the N. American game with an understanding that he could go back to the KHL if it either wasn't working, or if he wasn't called back up within a given amount of time.
