Yeah, through healthy competition. Not by awarding the job to a bunch of talentless maggots just because they've played more NHL games. What have Komarov or Looncrackle earned with this team?

I’ve posted this before. That’s very hard to do. He’s got talent.....he’s not Johnston or Gionta.

Again you keep comparing him to guys who are gonna be a healthy scratch 95% of the time if everybody is healthy. So you want Ho-Sang to be an extra forward who gets in a game here or there? I'm confused. You guys keep bringing up the 13 & 14th forwards on the team. You know they are the 13th & 14th as well
- Vukota

Who's hurt besides Ladd? So when he's healthy Tommy Roonspackle will ride the bench. Komarov will still see a regular shift nightly. I assume Kovar and Filppula will rotate at center, so I'm not sure who else you think is going to bump a guy like Komarov or Martin out of the lineup.

You keep acting as if I'm demanding that Ho-Sang or Bellows be handed a permanent spot on the roster without any consideration of ever being sent back to BPT. If they can't hang then big deal, send them right back to BPT.

I'd rather learn that they needed a bit more time in the minors and send them back then just hope that Tom Dunerunkle is something different than the useless pile of garbage that he's always been. When Ladd comes back, then you could send them back down. That's the kind of roster move I can accept, because it makes sense.

One goal isn't going to convince me that he has any talent. If that's the case, then here...I found an old Islander that I'm sure would love to come back and bless us with his talents:

Still early, but doesn't look like he's going to be getting bottom pairing minutes as of now:

#Isles D pairs in practice today:

Pelech-Pulock
Leddy-Sbisa
Hickey-Boychuk
Toews-Mayfield

- eichiefs9

I don't think this means, We will 100% see these pairs on opening night. Trotz is looking to see who plays well with each other.

Komarov is a bottom 6 forward here to kill penalties and play some sound D as a forward. Both things Ho-Sang has no idea how to do. Looncrackle is an extra forward like I've said 100 times already.
- Vukota

His defensive game has been steadily declining over the past few years. He's not very good defensively or offensively. His only real value will, hopefully, be getting under players' skin and drawing penalties.

I have a conference call with Lou at 1:30pm. It's for the season ticket holders
- Vukota

I didn't give them a question but I gave L, M Lou and Trotz the The directions to this HB Forum thread

They have a lot to learn

Eberle Barzal Beau

Bailey Nelson Lee

Komarov Flippula Ladd

MM CC CC

Extra forward or two Dunerunkle, Johnston most likely just 1 with them carrying 2 extra D.

So again you keep saying they are keeping guys like Johnston & Dunerunkle and not giving Ho-sang a shot when the reality is none of those guys are playing but since the first 2 aren't prospects they can rotate as extras while the actually let the prospect plays 20 minutes a night every night.

Haha. I get it.....but Rob Shremps BS spinarama crap isn’t that hard. I know one goal doesn’t make Kuhnhackl a top end talent but that backhand was literally perfect. He didnt pull it to the side ala Fransy.....he beat a top end goalie glove, with a straight backend on the left side of the goalie. Whatever he’s not a factor.....i just think he’s better than what you’re giving him credit (or lack thereof) for.

I know everybody sucks and this guy is slow and this guy is this and the truth is you've probably seen him play a total of 2 games just like everybody else you talk about without every watching them play here or there. I'll watch him myself and then decide how good or bad he is. I won't listen to others and then just say what they say. I'll actually form my own opinion about the player

All I'm talking about is right out of the gate. If Ladd isn't healthy and playing, why not give Bellows a week or two playing LW on the third line? If he can't keep up OR when Ladd is healthy, ship him right back to play 1st line minutes in BPT.

I'm not arguing that any of what I said should be permanent decisions. Kieffer Bellows development is not going to be ruined by a week of playing 12-13 minutes a night on the 3rd line.

And my philosophical difference with the front office lies mainly in that stupid Komarov signing. The Islanders have a ton of cap space and they could have traded for an equally-useless player, like Komarov, and actually gotten back some decent assets...rather than just hand out a four-year deal that eats cap space and doesn't provide anything in return. Having cap space has proven to be a massive asset in today's NHL and, so far, Lou hasn't seemed like he's grasped that concept.

I understand the reason that they didn't also, but what I don't understand is the rationale.

Again, despite the several-page debate, I don't think it's a huge deal...but I do think it's concerning. I had concerns with hiring a dinosaur like Lou from the get-go, and so far he hasn't really made me feel any differently. I like what he brings culture-wise but my fear lies in his ability to build an organization that can remain competitive in the new NHL era.

I think you’re talking about an 18 year old kid who’s an NHL bloodline and just sniped a few nice ones in pre season. I think it would be worse for his psyche if you gave him the taste and sent him down vs starting in the A. He’s probably well aware that he belongs in the show but they’re gonna let him pay his dues. I think it’s the proper way to develope.

I also think that's blown out of proportion as well. It's facking hockey the name of the game is to put the puck in the opposing net while keeping it out of yours.

Could (and maybe should try to) probably sign him for free in the offseason, especially if he has a down year with OTT. Hell, depending on the price...I'd try and trade for him now and flip him at the deadline for another 1st round pick.
