In the name of all that is holy...what is this?

Edit -- although my five-year-old, who's home sick today, saw that and said, "He's funny!" and started laughing hysterically, so maybe they're hitting their target audience.

im with you. Sbisa actually was decent. he definitely not a bad depth guy.
Im very happy to see Toews sticking around.

as for the line up. I was waiting for the comments wow, Bailey on first line again. I guess Lou and Trotz must not know what they doing.

I think thats a good opening night roster. And as someone mentioned. If they winning its fine, if the not changes will be made immediately. Thats right Nelson - All eyes on you.

I thought Bellows had enough to make it but he has to be on top 2 lines and why he going back to bridge. he needs good set up guys around him and not sure how many noticed he was less visible in game vs rangers when put with less skilled linemates.

I think JHS just keeps getting outplayed by others each year. Beau beat him out for job and now seems Bellows leapfrogged him as well.

I rater Sbisa be a depth guy then Seidenberg. I would much rather Wotherspoon step in if needed later in the season.

I think even that will take some time. I don't expect an overnight culture change. This organization's been adrift for a really long time and I'm not sure anyone can undo that in one training camp. I expect we'll see what a Trotz team looks like after the first round of players suffers some consequences for not buying in and their replacements are there long enough to know what's expected of them.

Works for me.

As long as Trotz and Co. cleanse the country club atmosphere out of the locker room and brings respectability/winning back to this franchise, it's well worth the wait.

They are putting Bailey with Speed. One thing Bailey can do and is great at is thread the needle. Barzal is the fastest 1C the isles have had in a very long time. I think Bailey is gonna rack up many assists on that line as i expect Beau to score 30 or damn near close to it.

You can throw, Ladd & Bailey in there, as well as a few others that have been known to coast on their way back to the D zone. But Nelson would be the main one, yes.
I don't know if it's JHS being outplayed or they just haven't seen the maturity growth yet. We all know he's got talent. He just needs to stay down, shut up & play.

For (frank) sake clutter cizikas and martin are the 3rd line...............let that sink in, the had a great year once and had like 30 goals between them

It starts with accountability. It's something we've heard for years, maybe decades now and haven't seen. I'm hopeful that Barry & Lou will change that. I definitely would like to see vets sit for coasting or making rookie-type mistakes. We'll see if it happens soon enough.

Unless you're referencing a post I didn't see, it was just UIF's opinion on lines combos. Even if the CCM line is the 4th, then the 3rd line still sucks.

No gross sent out line combos today

Most of #Isles regulars in this group:
Beauvillier-Barzal-Bailey
Lee-Nelson-Eberle
Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck
Kuhnhackl-Filppula-Komarov
Kovar/Johnston-Gionta-Fritz

Leddy, Boychuk, Toews, Mayfield, Pelech, Pulock so far seen on D

Lehner and Greiss the goalies

and even so to think thats a good 3rd line.......

If we're looking at what the Isles already have, I don't see why you can't just take...

Leddy, Boychuk, Hickey, Pulock, Pelech, Mayfield, Toews

...as your seven d-men and then have Aho ready as an 8th to call up from B-port should they need him. I don't think we need either Seidenberg or Sbisa as a depth guy since neither is better than the existing 7th or 8th d-men, so they don't really do anything except block other players.

What the D corps really needs is better top-end talent; not piling more marginal talent on the bottom. If there are a bunch of injuries and the Isles need to go past the 8th d-man, fine, then the Isles can pull these guys off the unsigned scrap heap at that time. I'm sure they'll still be available.

Gotcha. Didn't remember seeing that. Yeah, that's kind of brutal. Call me sadistic, but I am curious to see how that KFK line does.

I would agree with you. The only slightly logical thing I can think of is that Pulock, Pelech, Mayfield & Toews are young players. Maybe they want Sbisa or Seids as veteran mentors. Show them how to act. I guess. Other than that, I have no idea why they'd be on the roster. Or it's a favor to Snow.

I refuse to believe Seidenberg will be on this team. They are being nice b/c he has been a good soldier and Barzal lives in his house..etc. I don't see him getting a contract unless it's an assistant coach or something. ... Same with Gionta. Neither of those guys will be on final roster. this is not a circus anymore. they both were horrific in every shift.

I'll reserve my judgement until I actually see the change. Until then, it's still the Islanders and Snowbag is still employed by them. What kind and how much say he has I have no clue. Gionta shouldn't even have had a pto. If Seids and Sbisa are such great people (and I'm not saying they're not) then give them a job in the pr department. Or in the events department. Just don't sign them to take up an unnecessary roster spot that could be given to a kid.
