I thought at the end of this that Mayfield was going to accidentally run him over.

I just don’t think Ho Sang gets it. Maybe he’s just young and maybe he’s just immature. Hearing him talk about practice I.E Allen Iverson is prob the dumbest thing he could say. He’s under the microscope from his own doing, and he just can’t seem to get out of his own way.

He’s talking about practice not being as important as games in the same article coach Trotz is quoted as practice being important for systems and structure. 🤷🏻‍♂️

To me this kid has a lot of growing up to do.

I think he's got to learn to shut his pie hole, put his nose to the grindstone and work his ass off to get to the big show. He hasn't done anything yet to earn the right to spout off about anything. He doesn't even realize that he's costing himself a lot of money right. Keeping digging yourself deeper into the hole, JHS. You'll end up the highest scoring player ever in the ECHL.

The people in the background are showing about as much urgency as his teammates, too.

How do you draft a player at the top of the draft that cannot skate?

Seidenburg was terrible and that is a good thing. I don't want him on this team.

Brock Nelson was terrible and this is not going to help his case. They skated right by the guy .. often.

Other guys that were terrible- Kuhnakle, Filipula, MDC, and a few other guys I never heard of before...

Hitchcock was actually pretty good, so was Toews

Mayfield and JHS was neither good nor bad.. just kinda .. meh.

Bailey was his usual maddeningly frustrating to watch. You can see him doing his patented give the puck away at the blue line in the highlights.

Garth did the same thing with Reinhart. First thing should be can this guy skate well enough for the NHL.

Trotz is going to have his hands full with Nelson and Bailey. I have no patience for their BS.

Maybe BD should do a blog on Garth's great drafting instead of worrying about Lou.

I am guessing he will not have any patience for it either... Nelson is on a contract year. You would think he would get it... Zero effort on defensive side.. ZERO.

Nelson was a guy I thought might go out there in preseason with something to prove to lock down that 2C spot, but, yeah, he was bad.

I think Pelech looked the worst out of everyone, though. Based on last night...and, really, all last year, I'm not sure what it is he's supposed to do well...he was out of position, got skated around all night, took bad penalties, and looked terrible on the PP. I'm completely fine with Sbisa taking his spot.

Whether it's Doug, Cappy, or Barry, Nelson does not have enough passion for this game. Hard to see things working out with Bailey and Barry as well. Hopefully Bailey can be moved if needed,

I want the best players to make the team regardless of contracts. If Bellows earns a spot he should get it. Lou and Barry need to send a message that Garth's ways are over.

Seidenberg was the worst.. hands down. but Pelech was a close second.

Here is the fight if you missed it.. hats off to Goulbourne dropping gloves with Johnston.

He's going to have his hands full with several guys. It's going to take awhile to undo the years of what was accepted. Trotz can say whatever he wants (we've heard it before), but until there is visible evidence that this team is turning the corner, I'm not buying it. Maybe the proof will be a difference in defensive play, maybe a couple trades, perhaps cutting some guys, I don't know. I just want to see a difference in attitude from this team.

Tweaking my call on the starting lines... here is what I want at this point. I'm bored.. feel free to rip them appart.

Eberle/Barzal/Beauv
Bellows/Bailey/Lee
Ladd/Kovar/Nelson
MM/CC/CC

boychuk/ Leddy
Pulock/ toews
Hickey/aho
Mayfield-7th d-man

rest of D can go home for all I care.
Nelson went from second line center to 3rd line wing.. He will be in press box soon for Leo or JHS. Bailey should be on notice too.. make him 3rd line center or wing.. better yet trade him while u still can.

I have confidence in Barry but it's going to take time and Lou is going to have to help as well.. If the team has to cut Ladd and send him to Bridge so be it. We all all know I love trades and it's because my team has not won anything for years. I guarantee you I was not looking for trades during the early 80's. I hope very soon the Isles can get to a point where they do not need many trades. As long as this team cannot sign top FA's, they need to trade and they need to be willing to cut high salaried players.

I would not mind seeing Bellows with Lee and Bailey. I also like seeing what Toews can do as well. Maybe have Toews with Boychuk on the 2nd pair with Leddy and Pulock on the 1st? I'm all for trying as many young players this year as possible as long as they are ready.
