A lot of changes happening with in the organization and looking at the lack of success this organization has had in the past couple decades it a breath of fresh air reading these tweets.
I mean when your team is struggling and you can get Trotz and Lemaire to become involved there is no one( well?) who can say thats a negative.

Agreed. It's only the first step. You can't overhaul the entire roster in a couple of months. I think Lou is going to spend this year figuring out who stays and who goes. I'm just excited the season is around the corner

Longtime Lou Lamoriello crony Jacques Lemaire here watching #Isles training camp. He's in Isles gear, too.

Also, looks like ex-Hartford (AHL) coach Ken Gernander has joined the organization as well.

Interesting. Very interesting. Reckon there will be some skating going on. No more coasting through practice and telling the coaches what you want to do.

I think this line will get a chance as Lee and Nelly have played together on Team USA.
If they can produce and play well then having Barzal, Tito and abs as your first line, I don't think the top 2 lines will be to bad.

That will leave a poop load of skaters competing for the 3rd line. Included in there will be Kovar, Ladd, JHS etc. as I feel MC2 line will be your 4th line.

- nyisles7

I like Nelson and Lee together. I'm not sure about Nelson and Bailey as both of them have been known to take long vacations during seasons, and Lee's not the kind of player who can do it alone for stretches waiting for the other two to heat up and start skating again. But it's probably the best second line you can start with if you're keeping the first line together. If it's going to be something else, then it's up to one of the other players in camp to play himself into a top-six role.

Yes sir. I did like hearing the "we'll weed them out" that Trotz said at one point.

I hear you but I don't think they'll be able to just coast any longer. I think they're going to be forced to skate or look for another job.

Goalie Robin Lehner on how he expects #Isles to be better defensively this season:
"I watched a lot of their games last year. It was open hockey last year. It was a lot of go go go offense and there was nothing back. That’s not going to be the case this year."

Good points UIF, but I don't think Nelly or Bails will take Vacation Days this season. It's Just not going to happen with Lou and Trotz running the show. Only time will tell.
It's going to be interesting to see the teams defensive structure this year.

Hell yeah Mick!

You should read the rubbish he wrote today. He misses Snow! The best line of his blog today was The Leafs are reversing or undoing everything Lou did. mean while he went in there and changed the culture of the team first thing as he has done here.
I go there for a good laugh and to see the same 4 posters who are Islanders Fans post there along with the Trolls which is typically the majority.

Hell, I rather post here even with that Old Cranky cpp. posting the same old shat daily.

I think the structure will be worlds better, and that will make a big difference this year. But I don't think Bailey and Nelson are intentionally lazy out there, where a coach can just give them a kick in the rear and they're all of a sudden consistent. Ladd I think fits that more...got into a situation where his old buddy and teammate was coach and took everything less seriously without consequences, and now he realizes he has to come in and be a lot better.

I think Nelson and Bailey fit more with what Weight said about the team last year during one of his harsher moments...that some players think they're working hard even when they're not. And if a player genuinely thinks he's working hard, that might be tougher for a coach alone to reverse.

I do think a Lee-Nelson-Bailey line can do some damage when they get into the offensive zone, though. Even if Nelson and Bailey hang on the perimeter, they'll get some more room to make stuff happen from there because Lee will always be drawing a lot of attention in front of the net.

I agree that the defensive structure alone will make a big difference. I think as a Team they will be able to score.

Of course N and B think they are playing hard, however I think Trotz will hold everyone accountable and call them out in video sessions and practices where in I think it will make a difference.

Im excited to see how all the changes work out for the team and hope the team comes out and surprises a lot of people. I don't see a SCF run however if they can keep the puck out of their own zone/net they will be better than most expect.

I'd like to see if Bailey could re-learn the center position, and switch with Nelson on that line. Bailey's first instinct is to pass; Nelson's best attribute is his wrist shot. I think a Lee-Bailey-Nelson line could be better than Lee-Nelson-Bailey.

I am really very excited to see this team with a real system and coaching staff in place. I have always believed they had the talent. Just to have a coach who will bench an idiot instead of rewarding him will be worlds better from a fans point of view.

These are the perfect examples of guys that have the talent but need guidance. I think they will have a ton of success but if they are not doing their job he will plant them on the bench and/or in the press box.

If we can just stop Bailey from the no-look backward pass to no one at least once a game I will be happy.

Well obviously the morons on hockeybuzz were saying Dougie needed to change his defensive scheme. Doug didn’t think so for 3/4’s of the season.

Rose colored glasses - None of us here would be islanders fans if we didnt all wear them.
if you saying you dont, then you probably already looking forward to draft. Not me.
I think we surprise. Coaching goes a long way. If we make wild card spot, let me now how that is any different last 9 years with JT.

Here are Sparti's bold predictions for year.
1) Beau nets 30
2) Nelson has best year as Islander (thats if he not traded) and that will be function of him being in contract year.
3) Newly added and the Hail Mary - Lehner goes from recovering Suicidal/Alcholic drug addict to top 3 in Vezina conversation. (im reaching here but would that be a great NHL storyline
