Mike Ricci is my starting center in my all ugly draft.......flanked by Gino Odjick, and Alex Ovechkin.

[quote=Cptmjl]I agree with this post. Nobody is grabbing pitch forks, revolting, or claiming anything. This is the usual overreaction to something you conceive as an attack on everything Lou. I merely said the signings and trades so far are at the very least questionable and imo stupid. They are. The vast majority of people agree league wide its not a ridiculous thought.
With that said I’ll say it again because this is something you ignore constantly and focus on one thing(anything that you think is an attack on Lameriello just like you did with Weight last season btw)I speaking for myself and happy Lameriello is here, I’m excited Trotz is our coach and I’m pumped to see what he can do. I disagree about our recently added personnel. That in no way means I want everyone fired nor does it mean I’m writing off even this season. I’m excited to watch some hockey.
Not agreeing with everything our new general manager does equates to the end of the world but if you want to keep on

You’re right. I actually have my pitch fork right next to me and I’m organizing a revolt as I type this.

I think...well, hope, really, since who knows what to expect...that the make-up of the bottom six depends entirely on what these guys show in camp and early in the season. There are a lot more forwards than available spots, and you can go with some really different looks with the players available.

If some of the skill players knocking on the door show they're buying in completely to playing solid D, and they're really noticeable for the right reasons, maybe we see more of a skill third line with someone like Kovar or Beau at center and Ho-Sang and/or Bellows on a wing (or maybe a finally-mostly-awake Ladd). That pushes some of the players we've been figuring into third-line roles down to the fourth, and some of the fourth liners into the press box or waived/sent down.

If those skill guys don't look like they're getting it and they're either not ready (Bellows) or just not looking like they're part of the plan (Ho-Sang, Kovar), then there are more than enough traditional bottom-six guys signed that can give the third line more of a "set the tone" look.

So I don't think there's any ironclad plan to, say, put Martin, Cizikas, and Clutterbuck back together. Someone like Martin may end up being just an extra forward once camp breaks, but if it turns out they need more heart and effort than flash and skill on the third line, then a guy like Martin is there to fill in on the fourth line once someone like...I don't know...Komarov moves up.

The beauty of having a real front office and real coach is that nothing is iron clad. The best players will play.

The best thing is Barry is a winner and he is from the outside with very little ties to these players. These players are also not going to be looking at Barry like he is Cappy or Doug.I also have to think Lou will not just sit on his hands either with making changes to the roster. I do not see Lou making panic trades and moving all the prospects but I have to think he will try to change the mix if needed.

In theory, yeah. The flip side to all that I guess is that every coach has his favorites. Go into any team's blog during the season...even the ones with the best coaches...and there will be fans wondering why some fourth-line plug is getting way more minutes than he should at the expense of more skilled players...probably because the plug nods his head at the right times in practice and takes instruction really well even if he sucks in the games. Hopefully this staff doesn't fall too much in love with the many sandpaper guys that were signed and gives the younger skill players fair chances and some room to make mistakes.

But I have a better feeling with this team...without Tavares but with a real coach and GM...than I did last year with Tavares but with Snow and Weight running the show.
