I guess you can put lipstick on those moves by talking about the mitigating factors, but it's hard to see how a lot of the good things you mention wouldn't be even better if they, you know, didn't pay Komarov $3m/yr for four years.

The $11m saved from Tavares is nice, but $9m of that's already been spent for multiple years on Komarov, Martin, Johnston, and Hickey. All I'm saying is, if it was pre-July 1 and I posted here, "If Tavares leaves, they should take that money, re-sign Hickey, and spend the rest on fourth liners," would you have dropped a comment in support of that? I'm not saying it's the end of the world or that that team is doomed, but those are all moves that seem more familiar than impressive to me. I was hoping we'd have more to talk about by now.

Again, well said. I don’t understand the whole “yeah they’re garbage players but who cares we have cap space” crowd. That angle will never make sense to me especially while handcuffing the team to three or four years of obvious sub par players. Sure any of these guys can surprise but you don’t sign players to four year contracts hoping to be surprised that they play good. I’m excited to see what our coaching staff can do with this mess but trying to justify these signings and trade(martin) as positive is to me laughable. Who knows maybe they’ll all surprise and Trotz, Greco, and Korn or whoever will defy all odds and turn these misfits into a competitive team but would anyone bet on that? I think not so what are we really debating here?

Also, don’t get me wrong I’m excited to see what these guys can do. Maybe Komorav will bounce back? Kovar? Could be interesting but nothing points to that by any means.

I am not putting lipstick on the moves. I just don't think they matter as much as you guys seem to.. it means nothing to me. If at any point we have cap issues I will say I am sorry to all of you, but for now I could care less what they are paying these guys.

It doesn’t seem kind of dumb to you to spend money on by all accounts garbage players and sign them to term unnecessarily? Why use cap space with term not knowing whether you’ll need it and possibly need it? As a competitive team you’re most likely going to need it unless you’re fine with this team not being competitive for the next three or four years.

I think there would have been very little pushback if Lou held firm to one year deals and two at the most for these players. I do not expect Lou to trade top prospects like Wahlstrom and Dobson at this point, but I do not expect 4 years deals for some of these players as well. I still think the Isles are in very good hands with Lou and Barry but some of these moves were very odd. Most of the NHL loved the Isles draft, most also hated the FA moves.

Seven? He was being sarcastic trying to imply I said that which of course I didn’t but that’s what he does and will continue to do.

Not really best show ever, but definitely wanted more seasons. The one where he was told to be a wing walker was funny as hell!

They're all pretty damn good. The wing walker one was funny. There was no way in hell he was getting on the wing of that plane. Until his only other option was to dance onstage at a gay strip club in assless chaps.

Or the one in, I believe Thailand, with the funeral. Strippers, professional mourners and throwing the casket around.

I think it was typical Karl that he really only enjoyed being buried alive in Russia.
