One thing this team will not lack is leadership without JT.

Boychuk added: "We're going to be a grittier team next year, I think. More sandpaper, more hard-workin. I think that's a reason for everyone to be excited."

This bothers me. Why weren't you "hard-workin" before? I think Boychuck is the captain next season.

No such thing as hard work with the Country Club. Garth, Cappy, and Doug demanded nothing from the players. Boychuk or Lee should be captain.

What he Received is spot on. Not sure why anyone would question it.

Because he has a good wrist shot, and has shown nothing else?

I'm guessing that Nelson wanted a one year deal so he could be an UFA next year.
- JimmyP

Forgot to include that possibility in my post I guess but it’s possible. Have more of a feeling he just wants to get the (frank) out of here.

It will more than likely be Boychuk due to him 100% not going anywhere.

When Nelson brings it every game he can be disgruntled about the Isles. I do not want to hear any complaints from Nelson.

Lou is doing more hard work in this gif than Garth has done in 12 years.

Wahlstrom and Dobson are the best of the bunch imho. JHS if he grows up can play.
Not much there after that though except Bellows.

yep i think we have some really good wingers waiting in line a couple good d and goalie prospects ....but nothing down the middle

Better start developing the centers we draft(ed) to be centers! I know it’s a shocking thought process.

Too bad he only uses it 25 games a season. We'll see what Trotz can do with him.

Which is why he'd sign a one year deal.

I’m excited for that and he’s playing for a contract and if he does really well we probably won’t sign him. Hahahaha

One thing is for sure. Nelson will not be getting a Vanek type deal.

Well, why would they? With Snow at the helm and Crappy/Weight running things, who was going to hold anyone accountable? Remember, the young kids would sit whenever a vet screwed up. Not to mention that those 2 had no clue what the hell they were doing as coaches.

I've been saying it for a couple years. I think Nelson could be could good. 30+ goals a year if he played for a real coach. Someone who gave him linemates that could play. Not just broom handles with beards. I'm very curious and interested to see how this season shakes out. Se what this team can do under real leadership and coaching.

Correct. If you were him would you want to re-sign? Especially after you've seen this organization run so Mickey Mouse. Nope, I'd be out too. A joke for a GM, a joke for coaches, a joke for owners (Wang). They'd have to overpay big time to keep him. The only way I could see him re-signing is if the team does well, maybe get to game 7 of the second round, and his production increases and he's given a bigger role. Then I think he might consider it. Otherwise, he's gone.

Nelson has been part of the problem along with Garth, Cappy, and Doug. I'm not putting all of Nelson's laziness on them. As bad as Cappy and Doug were, I doubt they told Nelson to get off to a good start and then take the 2nd half off. Let's see what Nelson can do with a real GM and coach now. I do not get all this talk about why would Nelson want to stay? It's not like he has been busting it all these years and has been the one bright spot.

Well they just graduated Barzal and Beauvillier, so that's kinda the reason why there's not much down the middle. At some point you have to hope kids graduate to the big league and leave you with a hole in your organization. You really only get one shot a year, more or less, to restock and drafting for need is dumb. So you just have to hope they either suck bad enough to get Jack Hughes or can find other prospects later in the draft that fit a need.
