Hickey I can understand because they are so thin at D, but Martin? They did the Leafs a favor!

Should have gotten a 2nd round pick back with Martin. It’s not going to be a high pick anyway.

I'm more interested in oue team than worrying about the Leafs..they'll find a way to implode regardless. Martin is only 29 and motivated to play. You can also bet your ass he'll be amped to send a message to those Leafs. So get that E=MC2 line back and add a piece or two more. Let Trotz get JHS on track and our young players grow more....JT or not, we'll be tougher and more disciplined
- keaner17

Martin flat out sucks and he counts as $2.5 mil towards the cap. He can be amped for every game and he's still a detriment. They could bring up Ross Johnston to do the same job at $0.65 mil. It was a bad move. Leave him on the Leafs and let them deal with his cap hit.

I just asked my magic 8 ball and it said “Ek said it then forget it”

I think Faulk has been a target but they traded Hanifin already so I’m wondering if they really would move Faulk now. May want to much and I’m wondering if Lou and Trotz just don’t go into the season with what they have including Nelson and after working with the team a bit decide what and who needs to change.

Just my opinion and yes I’m always wrong.

They may decide to go into the season as is and see what they have. If they are out of the playoffs they move Nelson and some other players?

I would not mind Martin as much if they did not bring in Koz for 4 years. Was another team going to give him 4 or Hickey 4?

Im.ok with hickey and lehner depends on health and how many danger chances we let up but komorov I dont get. Yes we need faceoffs and pk but we also need space for when the prospects are ready to step in

Your wrong because since MM left and the 4th line was non existent. No matter who was on it with CC and Cal. For what ever reason they had chemistry and it worked.
If Matt Martin comes back and that line gets rolling the way it did,( and they were a big part of the teams success) then it isn’t a bad deal. If they suck then it wasn’t a good deal. I’m thinking 2.5 mil on a team with a ton of space it’s not a bad gamble and that’s why Lou did it.
The bottom 4 was hurendous and hopefully the 4th line makes a come back. If nothing else the Islanders aren’t going to be easy to play against.

The isles as built right now will be the easiest team in the nhl to play against minus the opposing team getting checked occasionally when our team can catch them to lay a hit.

Maybe that's because they suck. I don't mind Casey even though he's overpaid. Clutterbuck is useless at this point. They are all older and slower in a NHL that is getting younger and faster. No one gives a poop if Martin leads the league in useless hits well behind the play. His contract is stupid and trading any assets for him is even stupider.

Go read the Leafs blog to see what they think about it.

Honestly Nelson may not want to sign here, after Snow and the BS he put him through and Nelson’s giving them a tough time signing. That’s why Komorov was signed imho. Same with CDH, he’s looking to bounce too imho. I think Nelson is a snag in the plans honestly.

I’m hoping they get something done. I’m guessing a 1 year deal with Nelson. CDH, I don’t know, I think he wants out. Again just my opinion and.......

I was actually a Matt Martin fan when he was here but to think this was an intelligent move in anyway is incredibly stupid. 7 you're avoiding the fact that we just helped the Leafs in a HUGE way. I dont know I'm not ok with that. Also avoiding the FACT that Martin as much as I liked him adds literally nothing to this team of now fourth liners . I can't believe they're islander fans embracing this I'm completely shocked. To say oh well we have cap space is the dumbest (frank)ing thing I've ever heard in my life. We're taking garbage players on extended contracts I have no understanding on how this is positive?

This is the thing. It’s a speed game now. I also like Casey. Cal is always hurt now and will miss his buddy JT. Take away Komanov and maybe two years for Hickey and it’s better. I just do not get loading up on bottom 9 players.

Even if that's all true, Lou at a minimum should have squeezed a draft pick out of the Leafs for removing that albatross from around their necks. Or gotten them to retain some salary. Martin was a healthy scratch for most of last season, I believe.........certainly after January 1.

Hoping Martin makes that line good again is like trying to catch lightning in a bottle twice. He hits so how does that make the other two suddenly not suck in their own end?

I was at a BBQ and a guy handed me a Coors Light at 11:30 am. I told him it was too early to start drinking beer. He said he didn't hand me a beer. I busted out laughing. I guess Coors Light was his pre-beer warm up. He was also a little nuts.

Hey I will agree if they don’t revitalize and get back to being a dependable tough on both sides of the puck 4th line. But let’s wait and see if they can put it together before we kill the deal. I told you it was coming 2 months ago. It’s a quick fix to the bottom six. They traded dog poop for him.

Jimmy I don’t shive a git what the Leafs blog says. As long as when the Leafs come to town the CcM line beats the (frank) out of JT and the rest of Toronto’s sweethearts then I’ll be a happy camper.
I hope with the toughness Lou has brought in this team isn’t easy to play against the way it has been the last two years.

Let’s revisit this when the season starts. Give it a chance.
