I'm waiting for a trade to see how this team is going to shape up...but the thing is I think I'd rather have our trade bait playing on this team than the players we just signed. I'd bet on Trotz getting a little more consistency out of Nelson and having him fill a second-line wing or third-line center role before I'd bet on Filppula or Komarov making any kind of serious impact in the top nine. This feels like Reasoner and Pandolfo all over again in the most likely scenario, with the best case scenario being that one or both fill a Kulemin-type role as a way overpaid serviceable fourth liner, and we already have two of those on the roster.

Maybe the plan is Nelson as 2C with Bailey and Lee and Trotz gets more out of Bailey? If we can somehow improve the D and Goalie, it's not that bad but I have no idea how we do it?

If there's nothing else coming at forward (and I'm positive there's going to be a trade soon...whether it's a good one or the source of 10 more pages of us freaking out here, who knows) and it was up to Coach UIF, I'd have Lee-Barzal-Eberle on the first line and have Beau center the second line with Nelson on right wing and...um...I guess Ladd on left wing?

I read an interesting post from someone which in all honesty would be a pretty awesome move by Lou if he remembers to take his meds today. What about offer sheeting Nylander? The Leafs are in cap hell as we all know and wont be able to match just about anything we throw at the kid. Only issue is giving up a couple firsts with a team that Lou is quickly building into a dumpster fire

I was thinking about line combinations last night and stopped a couple mins into it because I started getting nauseous.

If nothing else, it would pretty much guarantee we'd be mortal enemies with the Leafs for at least the next decade

He (frank)ed us so hard it really looks like he did it purposely. That picture with his Leaf's blankets was the icing on the cake. He's not painting a good picture of himself that's for sure.

I get it. The team is a mess and has been for years. Can't blame him for leaving but man let the team you supposedly respect so much get at the very least a return for you.

- Cptmjl

I don't blame him for leaving either, but Christ almighty, have at least a little transparency. Just say you think you're going elsewhere. To sit there and say you want to stay was complete bullshit! He just wanted to make sure the Isles got completely fucked. If it's true that he asked Snow not to trade him at the deadline, then that makes it even worse. Then it was a premeditated fuck job. Whenever he goes back to NY, I hope the fans throw rotten fucking bananas and tire chains at him.

Yeah, me too once I realized success hinges on Ho-Sang getting his poop together.

How (frank)ing awesome would that be if he did it?

If he did that I would forget about him signing komarov, fippula, and... no I dont think I can ever forgive him for extending hickey.

I'm not sure I break up the Barzal line from last year and can Lee even come close to keeping up with Barzal?

Nelson seemed to play better at center? I have to think a trade is coming and hope it's for a goalie. Isles need a goalie and at least one top 4 dman and another top 6 forward.

That's quite the combination. "Damn, someone just hit me with a rotten banana! What could be worse?"

Since Trotz was able to get Ovie to play a better 2-way game, I'd give him a crack at doing the same with Ho Sang. If he's successful, even moderately, then Ho Sang could be Top 6 material, and you could hopefully leave Ladd on the 3rd line.

Hickey had to be a favor to Snow. It had to be. Or Snow just got into the checkbook without Lou knowing.

This is my problem with it hockeyman. It's not that JT left it's all the BS and asking not to be traded. Again it's out of bounds for JT to complain to ownership about the GM and coach but perfectly fine for JT to ask not to be traded?

EK has de Haan down to 4 team Isles, Rangers, Devils, and Stars. So if de Hann returns how is the defense different with de Haan and Hickey back?

I read somewhere that JT told the media yesterday that he never asked Snow not to trade him. He said that Snow came to him at the trade deadline and told him that he wasn't being traded.

A video tribute would be worth it if there's a deafening boo from the crowd throughout the entire thing. Although, with the way the team's being built so far, it'll be tough for the six fans in attendance to generate that kind of noise level.

Maybe this is true, but I'm not trusting JT at this point. Isles ownership and Garth are mostly at fault for this one.
