Oh I’m quite sure he’ll have better luck on deadline day. Money talks and the Islanders will have loads of it.
- Wildschwein

Let's hope so schwein because if the playoffs do not go well fans are not going to want to hear Lou got close with Duchene or Panarin. i'm going to hire Duke to talk to Lou this offseason.

Actually it has been reported by Bob Mackenzie that Lou was very active at the deadline, and that the Islanders were the front runners for Stone. The deal with the Islanders only fell apart when Vegas caved in and agreed to deal Brannstrom. After that Dorion only had ears for Vegas, Brannstrom being that highly regarded by Ottawa.

Considering this, I think we should cut Lou some slack. Insiders have reported that he was active, but that for one reason or another things just didn’t pan out. He recognizes the need for additional scoring just as much as the rest of us.

- Wildschwein

I don’t think anyone is panning the guy and as far as I’m concerned I don’t think there’s a gm alive who gets cut more slack than Lameriello on this thread😂

I have no idea. I threw my hands up in disgust when i saw that pass make it through. Then wondered how the hell it didn't go in.

Of course McJesus probably needs to learn to skate just a little bit more before releasing that shot.

Maybe he crapped between periods

The whole game was a mixture of hilarious ineptitude and dazzling skill. Players were All Stars one second, then going Full Retard the next.

#Isles have emergency recalled Michael Dal Colle and Josh Ho-Sang. Must be some sick forwards here.

All the harder now, what with Hayes being shipped to Winnipeg and unable to suck up the slack.

The supposed ask was Dobson and a first for both players. As far as Beau is concerned I’m not sold on him he strikes me as a the type who may not ever find consistency. As far as free agency goes I think it’s easy to say we didn’t have to give up anything for Panarin, Duchene, or anyone else for that matter and just signed them for “free”. Let’s see if we can sign them first before we proclaim it as being positive.
- Cptmjl

Exactly. It's not like this is great destination just yet. Not sold on Beau either. I would have been absolutely fine with him going in a deal for Panarin. This is still year 1 of L&B so I'm not killing Uncle Lou over not making moves at this deadline.

I don't know Cpt. Most of those guys don't show the effort. He is flying around the ice every shift to me.. just needs to continue to get stronger and smarter. he also seems very engaged with the coaching staff on the bench (Unlike 1000 yard stare Ho Sang).. .maybe I'm wrong but I really think Beau will be a guy who gets better and better each year.

Robin Lehner will start for #Isles. Stomach virus going around so no lineup decisions yet. Ho-Sang and Dal Colle may be needed but not definite they’re in the lineup.

Said the night of the TDL this is exactly how Lameriello would be judged if the team sputtered. Hopefully that doesn’t(continue) happen.

Eh, I think the article is incredibly short sighted.

Either a team is trying to win this year, or it is building to win in the future.

Yeah, that's obviously true, but the idea that the trade deadline is the definitive day to go 100% one way or the other is, well, wrong, and it doesn't really reflect where the Isles are.

They're not built to win a Cup this year. Doesn't mean they can't, but, while he'd never admit it, I don't think Lou was even considering a Stanley Cup in the first season when he took over. If anything, he was trying to "change the culture."

So, given that they're not built to win the Cup this year, should Lou have sold all of his players for picks and prospects at the deadline while the team was sitting in first place so he could build to win in the future? I bet this same guy would have called him insane for doing that.

With the team in first place, then, should Lou have pretended he believed all along they were going to win the Cup this year and sold all of his picks and prospects for a couple of rentals and bet the team's future on an out-of-nowhere run?

I think, for once, the Isles made the best move for their situation. There are really big decisions to be made for next year's team, and Lou didn't do anything during the Deadline Day craze that will limit his options when he has to make those decisions during the offseason. But, with the team pulling off a surprise run, he didn't break it all up and sell players off, either. Now they can see how far their fortune takes them this season and still be in a good position to build something better this summer.
