If I'm not mistaken, they're something like 9-0 in the second game of back-to-back games. Let's hope they show up tonight.
I gotta say, where they are now is a far cry from where we all thought they'd be before the season started. So nice (and unusual) to talk about how many points ahead of the second place team they are versus how many points out of the wild card race. I'm just not so sure that Lou will pull the trigger on a big deal. The way they're playing and the chemistry is pretty damn good. I know the PP needs a jolt, but there is an inherent risk in making a trade or 2 for big name players. I'm not saying I'm against it, don't get me wrong. Just not sure about breaking up what's been working.

Yep. Like I stated a few times on here lately I’m on the fence. I don’t think there’s a wrong answer on what to do at the TDL. As far as the pp is concerned it’s been abysmal the entire season. If bringing another player on is the solution I’m all for it because going into the playoffs with it the way it is would be expecting to most likely not make it out of the first round. Has to be fixed.

Bailey fken Blows... I counted last night. He gave the puck away 13 times in that game. 13 fken times!! most of them when they were finally buzzing around and cycling in the O-zone. That dolt would throw it accross the ice and start an odd man rush the other way. I don't care if he has 90 points this year.. He costs them more with his idiotic play. Nevermind the Floating around in the D-zone either.. the guy sux and I am done with him. Torture to watch and if you can't see that at this point you are a fool.

- niteislander

Calm down Tanner. Just kidding.
He has his purpose (to be fired into the sun). He does give the puck away a lot. And he's definitely a defensive zone liability most of the time. Definitely not adverse to leaving him in Edmonton.

How the phuck is that not icing?

Linesman were awful too.. .had a few of those calls. The face off on the PP goal by Calgary was odd too. It looked like the ref threw it to their Center's side.... regardless we have to stop losing face-offs so cleanly. It's brutal.... get me a center who can win face offs.. please.

This guy Hathaway is a (frank)ing jerkoff huh?

Seriously... Hate him.. very glad we don't play them a lot. Love Barzal going after him when he threw it in Open net after whistle.

At least someone can take a joke. That game was so bad that the post following that and the couple after because of it were the highlight of my Islander experience😂

It certainly has. The refusal to change the approach is frustrating to me. With everything that Barry has done and the changes he's made, it's hard for me to fathom why the PP is still this bad.

There was one play in particular that was unbelievably terrible where he was just inisde Calgary’s blue line and threw the puck to the opposite corner where there was nobody besides two Calgary players. He did that with his head up and I couldn’t understand what was running through his mind at that moment. He has been bad. Real bad.

Barzal deserves honorable mention. Those two need to be on separate lines.

I can't understand why Trotz hasn't sat him yet. He has to be moving him.. this is not Doug and Cap.. Trotz sees this sht. He is killing his system.

That was a very good team and truthfully I went into that game thinking we might lay an egg. That said watching the way they reverted back to a lot of horrific Capuano habits was disturbing. The PP did not even get the puck into the zone. The second unit is FAR better at this point. Between Barzal trying to do too much.. Bailey moving the puck around like he has all week.. and NO ONE shooting the friggin puck on that unit it's disturbing.... Throw the fken puck at the net when you have guys sitting there.

Anyone want to be Toews sits tonight? They will blame that first goal on him b/c he pinched when Mayfield was already down low.

Because he puts up points. Also, the team is winning. They're in 1st place for Christ sake. Does he turn the puck over? Yes. Does he float a lot in the D zone? Yes. Obviously he's an asset in Barry's eyes. I'm not a Bailey fan, just to be clear, but he's a .76pts/gm player. Do you really want to take a nearly point a game player out of your lineup because he turns the puck over here and there? I think some of us look at Bailey's game with past glasses on. I know I do.

I don't think he'll sit. It takes a team to lose as bad as they did last night. Not just one person. The faceoffs were horrendous, nobody shot the puck and a lot of guys were either out of position or chasing the puck around. They looked better to start the second. Even Butchie commented how much better they looked "in the opening period".

The only ones who looks at his game with Glasses on are the people who defend him. He is on the top fken line!! He gets points b/c he is on the top line. You could put Matt Martin on that line and he would get points. He doesn't turn the puck over "here or there" He turns it over almost every time he touches the puck. He will be moved in the next week is my thought.. only reason he is still playing on that line.

Well, you're wrong there. I don't defend him, I'm just trying to look objectively at it. How many times does Barzal turn it over? Leddy? Hickey? Lee? Fili? Anyone else? I don't. But I notice a lot more when Bailey does. I hope you're right that he gets moved at the TDL.

Have not seen Both D-man caught pinching like that all year... that first period was like last year all over again.. odd man rushes, guys on other team all alone in front of the net, terrible pinches, non-stop give aways in the D-zone and neutral zone.. whole game was brutal to watch. Worst 3 last night for sure were ..

1. Bailey ... at least 13 give aways.. at least!!
2. Uncle Leo- only time he was visable was when he took a dumb penalty and scored on his own net. He looked slow and made dumb plays all night.
3. Barzal.. He was not good.. period. It could be the 2 anchors on his wing but he was brutal. Failed to get puck in zone on PP, gave away puck often, dumb penalty, just a really bad game over all.

- niteislander

1st game out of a three day break out west against a very fast flames team, could just have been that alone although 2nd line is terrible as currently constructed

He has been a better player overall the last 3 years honestly but the last 15 games hes been poop. He needs to wake up and get going or be moved for an upgrade like stone (pk thats a pipe dream but still)

The worst part was the false hope. I figured we were in for a long night when the Flames went up 2-0 and Isles looked like tourists in NYC out there. When they tied it up in the third I poured a drink and got ready for a whole new game. A few minutes later, well, let's just say it's a good thing I poured that drink.
