I’m fairly confident Barzal’s play is going to start picking up in the home stretch though I will say I’m a little concerned with him in the PO’s. He seems to have an issue in tight checking games at times. It’ll most likely be an adjustment for him...

I really think if they took Bailey off his line it would help him a lot.

I'm not worried about Barzal at all. Just saying that guys go through slumps and, assuming we keep playing well, he'll be playing in his first playoffs. It's possible, not probable, that he struggles to put points on the board. Just saying that if he's not producing we're not exactly laden with high-end scorers here.

Bailey has been reverting to the player we all know he is far too often BUT Barzal has been his own worst enemy the majority of the time trying to do too much. He’s just having a rough stretch I’m confident he’ll snap out of it. I will say Bailey being the non effort, turn over machine that he is certainly doesn’t help the situation.

Don't understand why the Bo/Barzal/Eberle line has not been given a chance this year. They were FLYING around the ice last year.

just to start a conversation... looking at the teams that are completely out of it and seem like they are starting over... You think there is any chance that the Ducks would trade one of their big 2 (Getzlaf & Perry)? Or the Kings would actually consider moving Kopitar? I know that Carter said he would waive his NTC I wonder if Kopitar would.. and what it would take.

In reality I know all of those guys are 99% not going anywhere.. but who knows.

- niteislander

Getzlaf and Perry have tough contract situations, as well as full NMC's. I don't think they're going anywhere for at least another season.

Now, if we could find a way to pull Rakell out of there....that's something that interests me. He'd cost a lot, though.

Hopefully our forwards snap out of this funk they’re in. Especially Lee who we need to be a tank in the playoffs. Have to wonder if the contract talks are having an effect on his game...

They had a brief stint together this season and were separated soon after. I’ve been wanting to give it a shot for a while now.

Their contracts are not that bad actually.. and according to that article GM has no issues asking them to waive it. .. Getzlaf would be a MONSTER add for this team.

https://www.nhlnumbers.co.../anaheim-ducks-salary-cap Cap hit is 8.25 mill and he makes less than the number next 2 years. the Market has caught up to these contracts. He is only 33..

Cause the other line is playing well and creating chances so I assume Trotz is hoping the barzal line gets it going again that way he doesn't need to break up two lines. He already swapped del colle and beau

Yeah he's been awful lately. A point against the Devils has been his only point in the last 9. He's gotta get it together soon.

They're not terrible, but would you rather have a 33yo Ryan Getzlaf or a 27yo Panarin? Adding either of those contracts would probably preclude them from adding more talented and younger players in FA.

Not that I wouldn't love Getzlaf, but I think he's just not a good fit given the other circumstances.

They absolutely play a style conducive with playoff success, but they really need to start scoring more than 2-3 goals per game. The offense is a mildly-concerning at the moment. If the Barzal engine stalls or stops running, they really haven't shown lately that they can pick up the slack too well.
- eichiefs9

As long as they keep the other team off the board or at less goals than the Isles that’s all they need. Their offense has been sputtering lately compared to earlier in the year and that’s going to happen to most teams but they are winning.

Where the concern other than the PP really which has looked better in the past couple games especially the 2nd unit picking up their play.

I think Barzal and the rest of the team will get out of the funk their in offensively as well.
I also agree when teams are on Barzal hard he seems to get frustrated. In the POs he gonna have to learn to take those shots not retaliate and draw penalties in the POs.
He has been in the PB because of retaliatory poop the last few games and Trotz even made reference to it in the presser last night.

I think Barzal is just young and establishing himself. Every game someone comes at him and he’s been feisty sticking up for himself. The only concern we as fans should have is the PP and it being more consistent.

New York Islanders: I can’t actually say that I know for sure what GM Lou Lamoriello is up to, because nobody does. But the surprising Isles have oodles of cap room and like others have suggested, why not take a run at Panarin? Might make more sense to wait until July 1 but the team has its passionate fan base excited, and I think Papa Lou will add a piece before all is said and done.

Agreed Upstate, they were also a disaster defensively. Not that the new line is a defensive juggernaut but they are better.

Barzal seems to shine when on the big stage. Games at MSG, that hat trick in Toronto. I think he'll turn it up another notch come playoffs

I am hoping so, let not play the Bruins though we match up terribly against them although Montreal isn't much better for us. If I had my pick it would be the habs

I guess that happens with most young elite talent. Kudos to Barzal for not taking that sh!t. The only problem i have is I’ve been seeing a lot of guys coming high on him with their sticks. They’re trying to hurt him

Both games against the Bruins have been one goal games (excluding the empty netter) I would prefer not to play them but at the same time I won't lose any sleep if they do.
