Guessing that was too expensive for #Isles, who likely won’t have a 3rd or 4th in June. Likely try to use CGY’s 2nd for a younger, more skilled rental. https://t.co/qgxkCpWak3

Im not defending Bailey by any means bc while i like him he one thing that he will always lack is KILL. He just doesnt have it. neither does Nelson.

But i find it equally comical thats noone has any issues with Barzal blowing the game when we pulled the goalie with stupid pass. SHOOT THE PUCK.

That said the reversed goal on off sides was turning point. Both Isles and Boston are great defensive teams. did you know that was isles 2nd regulation loss since dec 20, 2018. Us isles fans are getting to use to winning all the time.

Lehner had amazing game. Win against the devils and all is fine again.

I agree with Trotz move. Beau has been on first line all season and has only 12 goals. he needs to have more.

I'm not sure what "KILL" is, but my biggest gripes with Bailey are his puck giveaways, losing one on one battles for pucks, soft play (never takes the body), and generally half-hearted defensive effort. He arrived seconds too late to stop Bergeron from tucking in that first Bruins goal.

And some of us did in fact criticize Barzal for his puck giveaway near the end of the game. Frankly that entire line is too soft. Beauvillier being the most physical player on that line tells you everything you need to know. But Beau has not been very good either of late, as you recognize. MDC has improved his defensive game, so his substitution may fix some of the problems on that line.

I think Barzal gets a bit more leeway from fans because (1) he's extremely noticeable for the right reasons way more often than not, (2) his mistakes usually aren't because he's lazy or standing still but rather from trying to shoulder too much, (3) all you hear about him is how dedicated he is to getting better and being the best, and (4) even when he's bad he usually picks up one or two more points than almost everyone else on the team. That all probably buys some more patience for a bad play than a guy with a history of showing you just how good he can be before disappearing for long stretches.

I said the other week though that I don't think Bailey's lazy like I used to believe. I just think that when he loses confidence his brain starts moving too fast and his feet stop moving, which limits his options and causes him to make horrible plays. And as far as Nelson goes, I've always believed that most of the "he doesn't care" grief he gets is because his eyes make him look like a California beach bum stoner

I noticed Nelson got roughed up a bit against Tampa and Boston and the guy turned it up a notch after. To me he’s showing much more “emotion” then I’ve seen in the past there’s a lot more drive to his game imo. Whether that stays a consistent thing or not I don’t know but Nelson is less of a concern to me then maybe he has ever been.

Lee though he’s not giving up the puck is not putting himself in the best position to score for a while now which as we all know is in front of the net. He has been a perimeter player lately or he’s jammed up on the boards not getting where he needs to. I expect that to change he’s just going through a rut I’m sure but he’s a bigger concern on that line to me then Nelson. For all the crap Nelson gets he has been pretty damn good this season imo.

I think Nelson has some purpose now. He never seemed to have a defined role under Cappy and Weight. When he was scoring, he'd get dropped down on a line with two castoffs. When he looked good as a center he'd get moved to wing, when he started getting used to wing he'd get moved back to center. I'm not excusing him entirely...he definitely checked out at times. But it's gotta be easier to stay engaged when you know you have a role that doesn't change every five or six games.

100% agree. Nelson’s been great on both sides of the puck under Trotz.

I think it only qualifies if at least one NHL game was played by the assests moved by either party.

Chief's article inspired me to look up Ron Stewart who played his last half a season with the 72-73 Isles after a pretty good career. I did not remember that he was involved with Terry Sawchuk's death.
