Wanna bet? I think Toews has earned his spot and I'd hate to see him go back down, but at the end of the day I think he's the odd man out. I don't believe he needs to clear waivers and they may be what they look at. I hope not, but.....
- Isleshockeyman

Well... A little bit of a contradiction from your earlier post saying they wouldn’t sit MDC for Ladd because of his salary no? If Trotz feels toews gives his team the best chance to win I can’t see him sending toews down(maybe for a quick stint?)for an obviously not as good Hickey. Maybe I’m wrong hopefully I’m not. Our defense is clearly better without Thomas (frank)ing Hickey in the line up.

No and that's what I'm saying. MDC is on a checking line, not a scoring line. Maybe Barry is trying to teach him how to play defensive hockey to round out his game. If they know he can score but that's all he can do then he doesn't fit Barry's game plan. I have no idea where the hell Ladd fits into the game planning, but Barry will figute something out.

That’s my thoughts as well.

Internet went down at work, but here you go:

I guess we'll have an answer sooner than later.

Also, Staple just tweeted that he's keeping his eye on Boyle, he's apparently heard some interest has already been expressed there.

They’ve been participating in practice for a while. Question is whether it’s contact or not? Trotz also said they may get a condiditonig stint in Bridgeport in an interview. Never a fan of Boyle.

I could be wrong, but I thought they've been skating on their own and not with the team?

I think Boyle is a good fit. He's got tons of playoff experience and would be a great addition to the bottom 6.

I read something the other day saying they were healthy just not in game shape yet

Yeah I saw that too. Maybe they both get a spin in BPT to get their legs and lungs back. But we're definitely approaching the zero hour on a decision.

I read they were participating in practice but with orange no contact jerseys. I think we have enough bottom six players. He’s also the biggest vagina in the league and always has been I know he has cancer before you say it.

Nobody should.

I'm thinking the Isles should take the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach to the trade deadline. If any changes are to be made, do it in Free Agency.

They are both healthy but not in shape as you said however now they are participating in full team practices so they are both close

I agree BUT and you’ll notice that’s a big but(I know you like’em)if the opportunity presents itself for a sign and trade for a top six and it’s not to over the top to make it happen I say we should do it. I know, I know, before someone jumps down my throat it’s most likely not happening but hey you never know... I know Boyle has some playoff experience but I have no idea why we would add to our bottom six with what we already have?
That’s the area we need some help not the bottom six imo.

Leo? I'm sure it would MDC though back to Bridge.

The good thing about Boyle would be that he could come here as a bottom-six winger but also fill in at center if someone gets hurt. He's certainly a better fill-in at center than Tanner Fritz, who I'm pretty sure is the next guy on the depth chart after the top four. I guess he's good in front on the power play, too, but that's probably less important. The problems with the Isles' power play aren't because of a lack of net-front presence...they have Lee who's pretty damn good in front. The problem seems to be getting the puck going toward the net in the first place.

I could take it or leave it with Boyle. I'm not sure how much more this team needs in the bottom six...I think there's more of a need for some more scoring punch in the top six, but that's not something that's easy to trade for at the deadline without either mortgaging the future or disrupting the chemistry this team has going. Boyle's probably a safe trade to make without having to give up all that much, and he'd probably have his uses.

I would take Boyle over both Ladd & MDC right now. Not bashing MDC he has been solid and considering what we thought of him coming into the season that's a huge step in the right direction. I just think Boyle is an all around better player then MDC right now and how long before Ladd ends up on IR again?

Correct. One of the reasons I’m not exactly enthused with the idea of getting Boyle. He would be a cheap get for sure but I’m not sure how much of an impact he would have? Also factor in the inevitable demotion for MDC and I’m not too keen on the idea.

Not a bad view point imo but I would like to see what MDC has to offer at this point. He seems to get better with each game and acquiring Boyle would pretty much nullify that. As far as Ladd goes I don’t even factor him into this decision process😂

But of course. Yet I (and you too I think) believe there's a snowballs chance in hell of that happening.

To be honest, I thought the Isles themselves had a snowballs chance in hell of making the playoffs this season, but coaching and stellar teamwork have proven me wrong.
Yet despite this, my thoughts on what the Isles should do this offseason haven't changed one bit. Sell that which you shouldn't keep (Eberle), and keep what you shouldn't sell (picks, prospects).
I'd make an exception however, if Eberle and a middling pick/prospect were moved for a top 6 forward with term. Other than that, I would't do a damn thing till Free Agency.

Boyle has 13 goals which would be 4th on our team. He is a big body you could put in front of the net on the PP. Might be able to win a few faceoffs which we all know this team can use. I'm intrigued by MDC and if they went with him the rest of the way it wouldn't be the end of the world, like I said I just think right now Boyle makes them even stronger but is not a must add IMO

I would hate to see MDC go back but Barry seems to love vets and Lou would be tempted to bring in another vet for the playoff run.
