If he is better than Kyle Clifford, Jordan Nolan, Andy Andreoff & Nick Shore then by all means give him a shot at camp. Dont see him making it.

I want the kids > Brodz, Mersch, Dowd, Kempe to play 82 games.
DS/DL messed that up. Should have been done sooner.

DS/DL and now BLAKE keeps the crappy dream alive for Kyle Clifford, Jordan Nolan, Andy Andreoff & Nick Shore. Those 4 should not even be on the Kings and join Dwight King as over and done with. 4 wasted spots and salary.

A New Era please: Youth & Speed.

Brown, Kopy, Camy
Tofy, Carts, Pears
Kempe, Brodz, Gabby
Mersch, Lewis, Dowd

DD, Gravel
Ladue, Amart
Folin, Forbort

No chance he makes it. I think its simply to create competition with some of the younger guys. Make them hungry for an NHL job.

It was probably his agents idea, and ultimately reached out of the organization for the PTO. I imagine it'll help him get more money from the KHL.

There is not physicality in your lineup. The Kings are supposed to be a team that is tough to play against. They would drop from 9th in the conference to 13th or 14th if they iced this team.

Totally forgot about this guy. Was slightly dissapointed he didn't pan out with the devils bc he did seem to have some offensive tools.

"Likely to be used as a defensive forward" ...That is just what the Kings need

Was thinking the exact same thing looking at his line up. Zero Toughness and the Sharks, Ducks, Oilers and Flames would beat the hell out of the Kings making sure they finish in the bottom 3 of the division. That line up screams rebuild.

With youth and speed in mind, Mersch is going to have some trouble keeping up then.

Actually, that is exactly what Kings could use in their bottom-six, decent defensive forwards who can also produce a bit.

he is a 4th liner at best, and I agree that Shore, Andreof, Clifford and Nolan should have to be fighting for a job.

I am going to project a line up that has Gabo on LTIR to start the season. and also pipe dream that we pick up Jagr.

Jagr Kopi Cam
Tof Carts Pears
Brodz Dowd Kempe
Brown Lewis Lok/Cliff/Nolan/Andy/Mersche/what ever scrubs are laying around

I don't see him making it. If he's willing, I can see him as a Reign player considering they lost Backman.
Equating 13, 71, 15, and 21 is wrong. Cliffy is good at what he is, a scrappy 4th line winger. Shore, although the offense hasn't translated, is a solid defensively responsible center who showed improvement last year (and outscored Dowd at tv5; what would his production have been if he got Dowd's PP minutes). Nolan is an inconsistent scrappy forward with mild potential, but I'm more than willing to move on from him. Andreoff, simply no reason to bring him back. I hope at least one of 71/15 ends up in AHL to give a less proven player a chance.

I agree about Loktionov. He's too small to make this team. Jordan Weal was a better version of him, and he wasn't able to cut it on the gritty Kings due to his size. No way Loktionov makes it either. Wouldn't mind seeing him in Ontario though.

If we're looking for more offense, Dowd is our 3rd line center and shore our 4th. Points and usage aside, Dowd has that little extra edge in playmaking ability that Shore does not. He is one of, if not the best, passers on the team. Put two talented wingers on his line and I can see him getting to 35-40 points. I'd like to see what a 3rd line of Brown-Dowd-Gaborik could do. Dowd and Brown were very good together last season, and if Gaborik can return to form after healing up, it certainly wouldn't hurt production. It would also give us some solid secondary scoring. This is obviously contingent on Cammalleri working out and one of the kids making the top 6.

Neither Nolan nor Andreoff would clear waivers if they were sent to the AHL. If they don't make the team out of training camp, they'll be traded.

Not a bad attempt for an outsider.

They won't break up That 70s Line to start the season.

Dowd is a lock for the third line over Shore, unless something crazy happens at training camp.

Assuming no injuries and the current roster, I'm betting the lineup looks like this:

Cammalleri-Kopitar-Gaborik
Pearson-Carter-Toffoli
Kempe-Dowd-Brown
Clifford-Shore-Lewis
Extras

If Gaborik is injured to start the season, they'll likely move up Kempe or Brown to the first line, and throw Brodzinski in the open wing on the 3rd line. If he has a good showing, he'll stay up in the NHL, otherwise he'll get demoted to the AHL since he's waiver exempt for one more season.
