I could be mistaken, but I believe both Dowd and Gravel do not have to pass through waivers, while Forbort would. I'm disheartened that you think Gravel is only up filling Pearson's spot for two games, but it makes sense. Gravel is the 1 of those 4 bottom pairing bodies I'm the highest on. I really hope Dowd stays up, even if it means passing someone like Nolan through waivers, but it'd be very Sutter to sacrifice Dowd when Gabo returns. Glad to see Setoguchi stick around if he gets the contract, he possesses skill that most on our team don't have, just hope he can consistently tap into it.

It sure seems like Setoguchi is getting a contract offer. If he weren't, then Latta was just waived for no reason. Then, there's the fact that he's still practicing with the team, and on Kopitar's line, no less, so he would appear to have Sutter's endorsement to stay, and that's probably important to Lombardi.

I haven't been impressed at all with what I've seen from Setoguchi, but it's not like many others have impressed and are better options, so it's probably worth the gamble to sign him and see if he gets more comfortable and finds chemistry with someone over time.

I was impressed in the early games, thought he did not step up in Vegas. But having a locker and taking first line practice shifts the writing seems to be on the wall. If you can get him going, he has skill that letting King or someone else in that spot just wouldn't be replicated. Plenty of ifs, but worth the risk for me.

I'm a bit concerned that looking more impressive early in camp may've had some to do with the competition being less impressive. Teams iced a lot of prospects and AHLers, so it was easier for a 29-year-old NHL vet of sorts to stand out. In Vegas, when the opponents iced more NHL players, he didn't look too good. It's a bit concerning, since it's going to be only NHL players from now on. That said, like I said before, it's not like there are better options and maybe he'll get more comfortable and find chemistry, so I agree that it's worth the risk.

LaDue and Kempe, but obviously they didn't make team out of camp. Dowd looks good as well as Gilbert, Gravel, and Setoguchi (Who knows how long he'll be on team).

Dowd does have to pass thru waivers if he is assigned to Ontario. Gravel does not.

Edited to clarify that Gravel will have to be sent down since Pearson's suspension still takes up a roster spot. Sorry about any confusion on that!

After the team USA debacle, I wouldn't have much more faith in him. Seems like he is on decline more than anything else these days.
