I was late sending in my reply, so here's my comment's section contribution.
1. The Oilers.
The Oilers will win the division and be one of the best teams in the NHL. They have it all, forward depth, a good defense and an under-rated goalie.
Three lines deep and tons of talent on the wings, the best player in hockey, two of the best young defenseman and the cap-space and capital to get even better.
2. San Jose.
An aging team, but one that should be almost as good as last year. Two of the best D in the NHL, a good goalie and tons of forward depth. Shouldn't have bothered with Boedker though.
3. LA.
A team that may decline and which isn't as deep or as good as it was. However, Kopitar remains of the best players in the world and they have two top ten d on their roster, so how bad can they be?
4. Calgary
Team on the rise. Lots of talent and fun to watch. Not impossible they fight with Edmonton for the division lead and surprise a lot of people.
5. Arizona
Will surprise and just miss the Playoffs.
6. Vancouver
Decent goaltending, the Sedins, Erickson and Tanev will take one of the worst rosters in hockey and be slightly better than anyone thinks possible.
7. Anaheim
From signing Antoine Vermette when they still had tons of RFA players, to handing the coaching reigns to Randy Carlyle, to fighting over a contract with their best player, no team had a worse offseason or looks more ridiculous right now than the Ducks. Their two best forwards are aging hard and they are going to fall down the standings like a brick. |

Im no expert but i feel it goes
San jose - same team as last year. Great coach
La kings - quick, doughty, kopitar, muzzin and toffoli will carry this team. They need to offload brown some how
Edmonton- mcdavid wont win the scoring title but he will be top 5 in points. Drasitl is fantastic, lucic will score aa bunch and protect mcdavid and they should score a few goals a game. But like dallas i think there Defense and goaltending is a little suspect. Nurse, klefboom and larson are good but the rest im not so sure about. Not sure that cam talbot has an amazing season either
Calgary- they will resign jonny hockey but the goaltending situation is probably the worst in the division. I think their offensive dmen step up this year and help this team out
Anahiem outside of getzlaf, perry and rakell who is there to fear in there top 9? There D is one of the best in the league but there forward group is weak and goaltending will carry them. I think they make a big shake up trade before camps are over
Arizona will shock everyone with how great they play. I could see them missing the playoffs by a point or two
Vancouver- erikson played with the sedins at WCH and they didnt look good. I look at the canucks roster and see over the hill vets. My bold prediction is that miller is traded in december

Even if the Edmonton forwards are as advertised, I still don't see how they keep the puck out of their net. I agree they finally take a step and maybe even grab a playoff berth if everything goes right. But winning the division? Not yet. Not close. |

Did I miss a trade between the oilers and penguins for Crosby? Otherwise, this is completely false.

A true Kings fan would never pick the Anaheim Quaks to win anything. I call into question Jason Lewis's integrity.
The Kings will win the division with a much improved defense and more depth in the bottom six. That folks you can take to the bank. later.... |

I agree with the Anaheim statement, but I don't see Kings winning the west over SJ. |

Just wait and see brother. My money is in the Kings. They were only two points out last season and this year have a much improved defense with LaDue, Forbort. The bottom six will have a surprise or two and so will the top six. Purcell was a good addition as well. I see the division and if not at least a very close second. Either way we will do well. Lucic was overrated man. You'll see... |

SJ - Don't think they'll make a good run again, but they have the least questions and a solid roster who knows how to win over the course of a season
LA - I am not even very high on us, and Sutter could definitely make decisions that drop us out of the playoffs, like a Green/Scuderi pairing and top line Dustin Brown, but hopefully there's enough high end talent to carry the rest
EDM - Not a fan of moving Hall for what they did, but..McDavid.
ANA - Carlyle, bad. They'll get their RFAs signed someday, just not high on their roster at all, feel like they have been regular season over achieving for quite a while
CAL - Could jump if the o/ d/ g gel. All look decent on their own.
AZ - It will not be long at all before the Pacific runs through Alberta and AZ, not CA
VAN - Not much to work with at all, fighting for first overall pick |
