Can't see the leafs giving up what it might take to make this happen.

Nor NJ.

Neither team is expected to compete this year, why pay an astronomical price for a soon to be UFA.

A contract extension would come with the trade. 27 year old defensmen you are getting a good young RHD

Why would Shattenkirk agree to an extension when he knows he can test the market, and there will be teams lining up to throw stupid cash at him.

P.S. He's 27 and will be 28 before he hits UFA.

If I was his agent I would break his fingers so he couldn't sign an extension.

I know. I rounded to 25 but I changed it knowing someone do that.

If he gets to go to a team to where he wants to go to for a reasonable long term contract why not?

Because he is a top pairing RHD under 30 years old set to hit the open market. Teams will be tripping over themselves to pay him. He'd be crazy to not give himself the chance to listen.

Most players don't hit the open market. If he can get paid now before the season starts and go to a team he wants to go? It's a no brainer. He's had a good career so far and will get paid a lot. If he has a terrible season or gets an bad injury he won't get paid nearly the amount he would get paid in a trade.

Most players aren't top pairing defenders under 30 less than a year away from UFA. I'm thinking the only way he signs before hitting the market is if he decides to stay in St. Louis, and his extension would most certainly have to include a NMC.

Shattenkirk & his agent already made it known that if he were traded to an eastern team, he'd work out an extension. That's half the reason he's been so difficult to deal. He effectively created his own limited NTC.

Will be fun watching the Bruins give Vesey the homecoming he deserves.
Can't remember a bigger punk piss off so many teams before ever lacing it up.
Rangers games will be awesome this year.

Hope the Rangers-Preds,
Rangers-Sabres/Bruins/Leafs/Wings/isles/Devils/Blackhawks games are nationally televised.

Will anyone really be that upset when he gets knocked the f out?

The most logical reason Shattenkirk has not been moved is that he wants to test the market. Armstrong not letting him negotiate? - illogical. Armstrong asking too much? - not after losing Backes for nothing. If Shat's had been willing to negotiated in good faith, he would be gone by now. He's just like Backes. (Army should have learned his lesson knowing Backes had signed an offer sheet with Vancouver years earlier.) He's willing to screw his teammates and the Blues.

From the perspective of the Bruins or Rangers, why would they want to wait just to see him sign with a rival?

"Shattenkirk & his agent already made it known that if he were traded to an eastern team, he'd work out an extension." - Source please!

"My sources tell me the Rangers will be landing Shattenkirk as well." - My sources tell me your sources have no sources.
