Probably not. Probably should. At the very least, listen to offers.

Finding a young controlled defenseman?
Does Dougie Hamilton not count? What kind of control are we talking about?

No way. I think there are other guys to go first before Rask. So are the Bruins thinking rebuild?

Hamilton didn't want to be in Boston. I'm sure he had his reasons. It's pretty hard to lock up and hold control over a player who doesn't want to be part of the club. I think he means term of contract and willingness to play there by control.

It would be a bigger mistake than Seguin if they trade Rask. Improve the D in front of him and quit hanging him out to dry.

Bingo

I said this exact same thing in a thread a little while ago.
I think trading Rask would be the biggest mistake the organization could make.

Was it really he didn't want to be in Boston or they didn't think he deserved the contract he got? I'm curious about the answer to this...I mean we'll never know 100%, but I guess we can all speculate...

I'd keep Rask, I think the blog seriously misread the goalie market right now. Trading Rask will not bring in a high quality package that would speed up the rebuild, it's definitely a buyers market for goalies right now.

With a looming expansion draft (and depending on the rules of engagement) there could soon be a plethora of high quality goaltenders on the market (and a limited amount of teams in the market for a starting goalie).

In the next little while teams will have to make tough decisions on who to keep from their tandems of Bishop/Vasilevsky Gibson/Andersen and Murray/MAF (there's 3 legit starters right there!). Teams definitely won't be paying a premium price for a goaltender when the market will most likely be flooded with them very soon.

No reason to trade Rask until Subban steps up.

Ty, I think it would be interesting to look at a scenario if the Bruins were to trade Bergeron.

I know that would be blasphemous, and being considered the club's only untouchable it would never happen... but there's no disputing that he would be the one player that could fetch us the most in return.

If you can get past the "it will never happen" part I just think it would be an interesting idea to analyze.

Before everyone jumps on me... I'm not saying that they SHOULD trade Bergeron... I'm just asking what if?

People talk about this hypothetical quite a bit, and it's never not terrifying.

It's kinda incredible how much the team relies on Bergeron (there's honestly no way to accurate demonstrate his value), and how they'd have nobody to do half the stuff he does if he were ever traded.

You do bring up a good point about one guy filling a lot of roles. And even if they were to get a king's ransom in return, it would still be very tough to replace all of the roles he plays for the team.

I feel like whenever I hear it get thrown out there, it just gets squashed immediately... and the hypothetical answers never get discussed. I mean I'd honestly be interested to hear what a LEGITIMATE package for Bergeron would bring.

I think he's the future captain (and it's even debatable if he should be right now) so I think there's no chance he would ever get dealt. I'd just be curious to hear what we'd get... would we be able to get a legit top 6 center, and a legit top 4 d-man? More?

How about adding good players instead of trading them.

Nah. Trading good players gets us picks and bottom six forwards. Then we can use those picks to select more bottom six forwards/ 3rd pairing D men and let the coach work with the mediocrity. Its a bold strategy, lets see if it pays off for them.

For reasons only Hamilton's camp and the Bruins management will know, it didn't work out. I can't tell if this is some sort of troll post.

You jump on people for asking same question about Rask. You shouldn't ask this question.

I still think Spooner's our best trade chip. He had a good season, he's super cheap and still an rfa. Czarnik should be able to replace him. Spooner ++ should land us a top 4 D.

Give Rask another year behind a better team and if he struggles again trade him when his NTC loosens up
