Would be a great UFA fit at a position of need -- size, grit, leadership, not 'too old' (30). However, he's going to get multiple offers and the cap hit/ term is probably going to exceed Hextall's comfort zone.

How about a guy like Mikkael Boedker? Still young enough, don't think he would break the bank. adds some speed and some goal scoring ability. played well with colorado after being in Phoenix. im not a big advocate on +/- as a whole, his was pretty bad i believe though

Boedker was reportedly seeking $6M for his deal. At least that was briefly released/mentioned by the TDL I believe.

Enjoyed this blog thoroughly

Not going to be easy to take the next steps, but it can be done

Man. Just having The Russian's $3 million can help get an impactful Bottom 6 forward, let alone being free and clear of Wheels and the savings from an Umberger buyout

Don't have any names in mind, but if they're patient and meticulous -- and they are -- they're going to be better next season, much to the chagrin of the haters

Jets and Flyers fan here, be careful about wanting Ladd. I wouldn't sign him for anything more than 3 years at 5 million. If someone pays more, let them.

* Hextall said he was very upset by the NHL's three-game suspension of Schenn and is considering an appeal of the Department of Player Safety's ruling. An appeal would go to NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman. Only suspensions of six or more games can be appealed to an independent arbitrator. Within the season, appeals must be filed in writing to the NHL within 48 hours. However, Hextall indicated that since it now the off-season for the Flyers, they have longer to decide.

I hope they made sure they have more time to appeal; they didn't know Pronger's last contract was an over-35 deal when they signed it.

I just today thought, what was wrong with Read? Can he restart his career?

I think Dave is enjoying it– well, he even made the comment there that being owner of a hockey team is a lot more fun than doing cable TV stuff.

I hope I never meet the guy that doesnt agree with this

Another season like the last two and Pierre might not even take the time to mention he went to Bemidji State

What a guy is seeking, especially before the TDL, doesnt really mean thats what he will sign for. Of course the agent is going to throw out a high number to start

I liked Boedker for a while but someone helped me see the light. He is basically a Matt Read. Look at the numbers.

You would think with someone who has his speed and skills would have better numbers considering he gets pp time

Yes, but it also means that, if one of 30 teams think you're worth it, they'll give it to you. But even if he doesn't get it, it's a ballpark estimate.

I think someone is going to pay him.

He is young and someone is probably going to think they can get him to produce.

I wonder if there are any RFA types that might not get QO. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on another del zotto type deal. Low risk - High reward.

That's way too much for a guy as streaky as Boedker.

IMO Jamie McGinn would be a decent fit. LW power forward for the 2nd line. If he can be signed around 3m that would be pretty good FA spending.

I prefer holmgrens vision on the cap. "We'll cross that bridge when we get to it"

McGinn leaves a lot to be desired on defense. But I would rather count on him scoring over Ryan White
