Still too early to draw any conclusions about deboer's system. Although the pp really should be better than it has been, even without couture on the ice.

But we can still opine on the results to date.

My opinion on the results to date is that they have been drawn too early We were playing pretty sloppy for a while but hopefully now that our team is almost completely healthy again we'll start winning more and our team stats will improve.

Btw any predictions on what the pacific division team will look like for the upcoming all star game? I'll be disappointed if burns and pavelski aren't both on the team.

I'm seeing someone of the same issues even with the new coach. The defense is a major let down at times.

I'd be shocked if they were left out. I think Pavelski is tied for the scoring lead in the Pacific for forwards and Burns leads defenders in the Pacific, so they should be good bets.

One issue hat still remains is our d core, IMO. With the Hamonic news that came out today, I believe DW should make a strong push for him. He would be a fantastic addition to our top 4. The Islanders are looking for a 25 year old dman, signed long term to a similar cap hit. We have just the dman, Brendan Dillon. I know Hamonic is much better, but I believe that's a great starting point.

Maybe start with Dillon and Nieto for Hamonic?

Was thinking about this too but is he really that much better than Braun that he would move to the top line? I don't get to see him play very often but he seems to be about as good as braun

I honestly didn't look at the standings nor points etc when I saw the title, nor have I read any comments.

So if someone asked me to make a judgement the first thing I would look at is the standings (which was mentioned at the very end with no detail), then the actual points & wins losses etc, then goals scored & allowed. All the above are real events & real totals!! So without that knowledge I have no information to base an 'actual' opinion on. An opinion based on factual events is a 'real' opinion.

So reading your assessment for judgement I have no actual information to base an opinion on. CORSI is a corrupt summary of averages, so if you are basing an opinion on Corsi then you will get an 'average' opinion that's corrupt!

Now 2nd in your division after a cracking start is nothing to sneeze at. The personnel is there to have a crack so things from that prospective are great!

Now put some hard facts into the next one & we can get down & chew the fat with it & hopefully pull out a winner!

By the way, there is no Corsi Cup - or none that I'm aware of so having great Corsi before thanksgiving gets you................but having good scoring & wins totals before thanksgiving gets you

Does the team being a year older have anything to do with it ? It should most of the team being a year older be a good thing ?

I don't think Deboer has had the impact many fans had hoped he would have. I wouldn't say the Sharks are necessarily worse....but they're definitely not "better", and that's an issue. I think the PK issues are the only issue that are likely related directly to Deboer.

Other issues:
I think Thornton's regressing, at least it looks that way in the game's I've caught lately (granted, I've missed quite a few recently).

The Hertl's, Nieto's, Donsckoueiuri's (sp?), Tierney's aren't providing the offense the team needs.

Depth is still an issue.

3rd defensive pairing options should all pretty much be skating in the AHL.

TSN said Hamonic wanted to leave NY to be closer to home in Manitoba. SJ probably isn't what he had in mind.

@DarrenDreger: Credit to @FriedgeHNIC on Hamonic story. He has family concerns in West Canada and requested a move before the season...

@DarrenDreger: Hamonic loves the Isles. This is personal. Wpg, Edmtn, Cgy and Van all preferred. Might expand to other west cities. Tough on Isles....

Sounds like a "west city" might be a possibility.

It's a little early to tell, however... This team still reminds me too much of last years club. Stretches of damn good hockey, but the majority of it is just average NHL hockey at best. Luckily half the league makes the playoffs so average regular season hockey doesn't always kill teams hopes of winning a cup (see LA Kings).

I hope we can just get to the playoffs and see what happens.

It is possible SJ is going through some growing pains adjusting to new coach. It is also possible that our roster isn't really much better than our record indicates, which is pretty mediocre. Especially without Couture.

SJ is further away from his home than NY. Doesn't make sense.

Most likely a little bit of both. But either way we're pretty much right where I expected us to be at this point.. Maybe 1 win behind

Still barely an NHL 3rd pairing. One of the worst bottom pairings in the league right there. Also, Hamonic doesn't want to come way out here. He wants to be in the North.

Gonna post this again since the other thread was dead when I did

Deboer has been encouraging Vlasic to play more offensively lately. And it has been working well

Oh, and I have been saying it all offseason, last season and I will say it again.

Karlsson might be a lower level talent, but he fills a need on that top line, and it shows. A lot of people were calling for him to be demoted and not play with the Joe's again, and I argued vehemently that he fills a need on that line.

So far in his games back up there, that line looks the best it has all season.

When Couture comes back, we will have scoring depth again!

Not for us.

This is a family issue of some importance if he wants to move out of a city he loves to be closer to home.

Going to Western Canada is different than going West bub. He wants to be close by in case something turns for the worst in the family matter is my guess. Closest city available is probably the goal That excludes SJ.

The Melk Man delivers. Not sure why he only sees 22 seconds of PP time compared to 5 minutes that others are seeing and dont do anything. Jones solid again.
