This is a no brainer...kessel is clearly playing with sid. |
|
|

How are they going to fill out their roster this year? Especially next year with a very small increase again in the cap? This trade confuses me because the pens are no longer a threat in the east to come out of it because of the lack of depth. Shouldn't they be trying to retool and stock up the minors? |

Pens are no longer a threat in the east after acquiring the best sniper they had for a decade and gave up zero NHL roster spots?
Yeah they got worse. You're right. |

One of those four (Kunitz/Bennett/Dupuis/Plot) have to step up for that last top 6 spot. Focus now should be on somehow dumping Sutter and Scuderi. |

Id go
perron sid kessel
plotnikov geno horn
kuni sutter bennett
wilson sund ufa
rust
Dupes isnt cleared so I didnt use him, we dont know if he will ever be back or if he does how long
What I would want to see is them get tlusty and bergenheim and maybe trade kuni and sutter..
but I think about it more, sutter and kuni could fetch more at trade deadline |

It'll make it more challenging to fill out the roster depth for sure. However, if they start valuing the right things (production versus reputation) I think they can still field a solid full roster. |

So they can load up one line and maybe the second with malkin. You cant win like that. Teams put their best d lines up against them. If they don't have to worry about the 3rd and 4th line the pens become way to easy to predict and play against. |

How about Bozak for Pouliot, your 2nd in 2016, and 1.25 mil retained per year for the next 6 years and we can forgive you for the Kessel trade.
No??? |

I don't think we will see the top heavy penguins have any problems with their bottom 6 until/if a major player goes down. The penguins are going to score goals, its inevitable. But if Malkin, Crosby or Fluery go down hurt for a signifigantly long period of time, then they may be in some serious trouble. |

I think those top 2 lines with Plotnikov on Geno's other wing will be how it starts. |

Their forwards got deeper by adding an elite first line winger. Also good luck having teams focus on to elite first lines with their top pairing defence. |

Semin from the right side is good... but semin from the left side? That is so rare it would feel kinda like a stranger.... |

I think Kunitz sutter dupuis is a great 3rd line that will score a bunch. I also think we are deeper at forward then we have been in a while. Having a 4th line with Bennett and 2 young hungry and speedy guys like sunqvist rust or Wilson is fine with me. To say this takes us out of contention is just based on hatred of Pittsburgh. If you questioned our D then you'd have a better argument |

I do not care who he plays with, he is not my concern anymore. First of all I am a Leaf fan and I will follow how Phil does but not worry much about the sideshow or other stuff. |

Troy Brouwer is a solid player with a ton of grit. I don't think Kunitz or Sutter straight up is a better package then Brouwer and future pick and a prospect. IMHO, I think the caps package is better then Kunitz or Sutter. - nurk
I think the argument is that the Pens should have outbid the Blues for Oshie. I personally think the package given up was pretty pathetic. |
