Quite honestly, at six, if we're not moving, take Provorov.
There's a market for him, and if we let that fall to Philly, we waste a really good opportunity to increase the assets of our organization and they get a steal.
NJ has to indicate that they're taking BPA so that teams offer them something.

Just hoping Hanifin and Provorov are taken in the top 5, leaving Marner for us. Would be a swell turn of events. |

So says the Jersey fan that says that says the Rangers suck |
|
|
|
While I'd love to get JVR, I hope Shero doesn't do that move...
This draft is about beginning to build our future forward core.

so if Columbus gets #3 they will most likely take Hanifin which would leave us with one of Strome, Marner, Provorov
ideal situation, we trade with SJS who then takes Prov, PHI takes Crouse/Werenski, ARI would take BPA, and we can still take one of Barzal/Zacha |

Here's a counterproposal.
To Tor: Jon Merrill + 3rd rnd pick next year
To NJ: JVR
If you want to trade us a second line liability winger who can score some goals, we'll give you a 2nd pair defenseman who's a little less developed and the 3rd will cover the development cost. |

Even more ideal, Marner is left for us at 6 and we party off into the sunset, in Sunrise |

Just pray for someone to take Provorov at 3-5. |

There are three scenarios I think any of us should be happy with:
1) Someone trades ahead of us to get Provorov, letting Marner or (pipe dream) Strome fall to us
2) we trade down a few spots to allow someone else to grab Provorov at 6 and pick up an additional second. We draft Zacha or Barzal and add three high potential forwards in the 2nd round.
3) we draft the best player available at 6 (Provorov) and walk away with a steal, plus add two high potential forwards in the 2nd.
Any of those things happen tonight and I'm a happy camper.
Just wish Branden Lemieux was available in this draft. |

God anyone but zacha and crouse. I want a guy who is the most talented not the guy with the most tools. Bout time we start drafting skill over tools if we want players with the tools to be nhlers get them after round 3. We need a guy who can create plays out of nothing and make others better not a big winger who will likely need a true franchise centre to flank him to be fully useful. Just draft the most talented player and worry about trading for a player who has strong two way play... |

I'm ok with prov or hannafin as they would be arguably the best player available but I am just not sold on either zacha or crouse being better right now or even tomorrow then some of the guys in the 6-10 range. I think I'd rather miere over both those guys or even that American kid. I would much rather barzal though. |

I understand the Crouse concerns, but Zacha seems like he has a real high ceiling as far as offensive potential. Nasty shot, Size and a mean streak. Seems he could be a more physical Rick Nash at some point. Of course if we draft him he will turn into Steve Bernier though. |

I would be a lot more open to him if one he played most of the season and two I know this sounds bad but the fact that there has been like no franchise Czech players drafted recently that I would rather the pick go to a Canadian or n/a player. Same thing with rantenen. They could turn out to be better but it sketches me out these players from other countries that are highly ranked but that country hasn't had many big stars it's sketchy to me. I mean you could get a kopitar or you could end up with a more agressive frolic. And if that's what we are getting at 6 then I would have to call it a disappointment. |

That's fair, I have a North American bias too. But if we trade down to 10 I think Zacha is a fair pick there. |

That's true. I am not sure what the markets like and I did say I was ole with trading down but it would be more favourable if it yielded us two picks from 10-23 ish otherwise I just want the most skilled player we can grab at six. Really not likely what Lehner went for thought he was a couple tiers below Schneider, I wouldn't of payed a first for him anyways lol |

I'm worried though we have been one of the best franchises recently when it comes to having an elite asset we completely diminish. Why turn what could be a possible first line player for what could be two third line players? I just hope we don't use the 6 and turn it into a bunch of junk and saying hey look at all this great stuff |

it really does depend on 3-4-5..if we can take marner we obviously do it..if we get some good offers where we can still get our guy in the 1st round and pick up another 2nd we will have 5 picks in the top 65...could replenish the F prospect pool rather quickly |

It's my fear of him being willing to trade down but not as open to trading up. This has me bumbed because it likely means we are settling a 2-3 lesser assets that have even less shot of panning out. We will negate the need for an offensive horse to have a team that plays just like the 90's Devils we all have tape players so do we really need to see this ? Can't we finally be built to score lol ? I'm going nuts here so don't take anything to close to the heart lol |

what's funny is we've all been commenting pretty much the exact same things for the past week+. Provorov, trade down/up, Zacha good/no good, Crouse bad, Marner gift, Barzal the man, O'Reilly, bla bla bla lol. |
