And they are all guessing, until he hired Hasktol the only leak was from Eakins himself that he spoke to the Flyers.

No insider had anything as to what they did or didn't do during the process.

For all we know Babcock made it known through back channels that he had no interest. All of it doesn't matter the process is over.

We're on the same page. Now, what about all the other available NHL Coaches?

Come on -- like it wasn't driving you nuts, too. You were on me once when I kept having random periods in posts because my iPad's periods were right by the spacebar

So you know have some idea of his work, correct? No many do! What some have found out, they're skeptical and that's Okay. Not once have I read how it's a terrible idea but some are wondering why Babcock wasn't interviewed. Babcock turned us down but we don't know this to be the case because Babcock hasn't even made a decision yet. All I'm saying.
- SuperSchennBros

The world doesn't stop because Babcock hasn't made his choice. It doesn't mean Hextall shouldn't make the hire he wants to because he has to wait until Babcock figures out what he is doing about his future.

Question how terrible it is if it doesn't work out.

He's 38 years old
- PhillySportsGuy

He's 38 now, 34 when he retired. Not really important though. I was just pointing out it's possible to win without having a third pairing that gets a lot of ice time.

Part of the reason why the Hawks survived an awful third pairing is because the Flyers third pairing was markedly worse.

What about them my team has a coach, I am not concerned about who they hire, why, or what their process is or was is selecting a head coach.

I was asking what his gut feeling on as to how many Coaches were interviewed and how many NHL teams were breaking down Dave Hakstol's door to higher him.
- SuperSchennBros

That doesn't make him a bad coach. Hakstol has a very good coaching record and seems to get the job done.

College players are typically between the ages of 18 and 22/23, the same age as a lot of NHL players, so I'm not seeing much of an issue there.

As far as I'm concerned, you are the one who has the problem with anyone who dares to question the process, which there is nothing wrong in doing. This very post by you proves that.

Okay? There are always coaches out there when teams are looking. Doesn't mean Hextall has to speak with all of them or that any of them share whatever his vision is going forward.

For all we know he spoke with 20 people. It doesn't matter to me, I don't need to know who he spoke with, when he spoke with them, did they talk contract extra.

He made his choice & I'd like to see how it goes.

Question all you want. I don't care how his process went because he or the team aren't making it known.

So if you want to question "guesses" or "rumors" or why didn't he do this or do that have at it.

For me the move is done (what I want to see can't be questioned until he coaches an NHL game) & it's back onto the draft.

I was reading a University of North Dakota hockey blog today to try and get a feel for Dave Hakstol. The fans out there in Grand Forks eat, sleep, and breathe hockey. I read a lot of interesting things. Majority of the fan base are sorry to see Hakstol leave, while others were baffled he failed to deliver a Championship while being afforded every possible resource.

Another interesting tidbit was fans believed Hakstol was under enormous pressure this year to deliver a Championship, and if he failed he would be removed as coach.

Well as a Flyers fan who dared question the higher...oops hire yesterday, how do you feel about Hakstol feeling the pressure and jumping ship before delivering a championship?

The conversation was about how Hakstol has only ever dealt with young players. As I mentioned earlier, wear and tear will be on most of the men he Coaches from here on out.
- SuperSchennBros

The conversation I was having was about how certain players fit in the stated direction that Hextall and Hakstol want to go. I specifically mentioned, several times, that age wasn't the focus of my comments, that systemic fit was.

The conversation was specifically about Grossmann, Schenn and Gudas and how they fit or if they would be dealt away. In all three cases, it's more a systemic fit than age, although Grossmann's injury history contributes to his current play.

Hakstol's adjustment in dealing with older players will likely have to do with managing personalities and very rich pro athletes, more than dealing with age related issues.
