It also helps that Dano played among men in the khl at 16-17, so he knows what to expect.

I remember in that draft when they selected him... lot of people was talking about that pick as a reach as a lot of analyst had him as a second round choice. Seem more like a steal to me now! Good pick by JK!

I think he has the potential to be good. He showed flashes of being very effective and lots of flashes of looking lost in the NHL, as most rookies do. Offensive production was pretty good and the kid can score. He still has got to learn how to play defense. He was dreadful in his own zone.

If all you're paying attention to is offensive production and highlight real plays, yes he is great. However, 5 seconds of good play doesn't make up for 12-14 minutes of not so good play. He's not as good as you seem to think he is, but then again you thought Wisniewsky was our best defenseman lol.

He can't always be good , last year at times except for winning faceoffs Johanson seemed lost at times, as you said he's a rookie and he will slowly learn how the game in NA is played, and there is some truth to his stats , Hartnell started a solid point streak when he was placed on a line with Dano.

I think it's fair that Todd calls him a good player given his limited playing time, and good advance stats. And hey , it's not like he's earning 5.5 mil like Wiznewsky to SEEM good.

Curious what part of his game is non-NA? He plays physically and certainly has no issue getting dirty. To lump him in with other young kids who lurk around the perimeter just isn't reflective of his game at all.

Honestly, I would say that there are times in which he tries to do things that would require more ice than he has. Open ice moves generally work better on the larger ice and there were several times where he would try to dance around somebody, get stick checked, and look visibly frustrated. Obviously, there were times when a move worked and that's great. All I'm saying is that there is a transition when moving to the smaller ice and you could see that in his game (Wennberg as well). There's just less room to deke around players therefor the success rate of doing that is going to be lower here. You can pull it off a la Emerson Etem vs Jacob Trouba, but more often than not you get separated from the puck. It's part of the reason you see so many players in today's NHL shooting from in front of the defenseman trying to use him as a screen because they know getting around them is less likely to get a shot off.

I would say this scouting report is pretty accurate from what I've seen....

Owns a great shot, elusive skating ability and a lot of creativity on offense. Is versatile enough to play either center or wing, and he's especially good when shooting from his off-wing (right). Doesn't have a big frame (5-11), so he needs to get stronger in order to play an effective game in North America. Also lacks offensive consistency, while the rest of his game is only average (at best).

When he played with Hartnell and Wennberg was he a RW? Also did that line constitute the 2nd or 3rd line for the Jackets?

Saw plenty of the Jackets and liked Dano but didn't notice if he played with jam? This is a kid who will go to the net, corners and dirty areas?

Congrats Jacket fans. Saad as you know is a player, has won and knows what it takes to win. A mini Hossa is a fair analogy and seeing Hoss for 3 years has helped this kid. ......IF he ever learns how to finish he'll be a yearly 30 goal guy, but I'm not ready to say that yet. But his 3 zone game makes him a very good player if never hit 30 goals.

Look at his junior numbers, he's never been a high point guy but of course he's a very young power forward and those guys develop a bit slower.

Just wish somehow Jenner was in this deal, but he's not a Bowman type guy cuz he'll knock you into the 3rd row. No need for that in Chicago in a Bowman system.
