Just call it typical Pittsburgh hockey when we get a lead.

nice right up Gunnar, agreed 100% , I'm not sure which (if any) team could overcome the loss of Letang,Ehrhoff,Maatta and Dupuis ? Its not just losing them but trying to replace them is impossible, first of all is availability , they're not just sitting on a shelf that you can pick up and start playing again, add the cap in and here we are.

How are they able to build 2/3 goal leads then not put it away? I agree the injuries are killing us but to squander a 3 goal lead is a collapse. Particularly with the playoff implications last night

What sort of cap penalty applies if we bring up Harrington & or Dumo? Can't see it being greater than missing the playoffs??

I mean they're at 96 points and have missed their best players for long stretches this season. If they barely miss the playoffs or get beat in the first round, I won't consider it a complete failure. It's the reality of injuries to multiple key players. It happens.

"Some people like to act like the minor forward depth moves an organization makes doesn’t matter, but they do when you add multiple poor choices together. Last night you could see how it hurts the team in an ultra-competitive environment. Would Mark Arcobello and Marcel Goc be game changers last night? No, but that is entirely the point. They can play quiet minutes without being a liability. Lapierre and Adams were game changers in the bad way. Total liabilities."

I was arguing with idiots about this all day on yesterday's blog. You tell them Gunner!

and it still doesnt explain not one single come back all season, I mean really, going into the 3rd down any amount of goals and not one. single. comeback.

theres no way this team will succeed if we cant claw our way back into a game, it certainly wont happen in a series if we are down a game or more

If they are talented enough to score 3 in the 1st they damn well should be able to play the right way to win that game.

As long as we get a ticket to the dance we have a shot, anything can happen.

I don't see it happening, but it could.

We will make the playoffs, and what happens from there could be totally different than what is going on right now; I doubt it, but it could.

Sid leads this team in the exact same way Mario used to. By the way he plays on the ice.

The Penguins believe we are a contender because of who we are, this has slowly been happening for years; and now there is no turning back. Other teams fans are right we act cocky and entitled, and at this point we have no reason to play that way.

Our mindset has not always been this way, but it sure as hell is now. June 22,2012

Sorry, this IS a collapse. This team doesn't play 60 minute hockey even in close games. When the pressure gets put on, the team wilts. They haven't had the ability to play from behind all year & they've lost what little ability they had to play with a lead under 4 goals.

Pretty sure Lapierre was part of the 4 minute penalty kill in OT the other day. Why now is he considered such a liability if he was 'able' to win nearly all faceoffs & help kill the penalty. Seems like panic hit the management & some stats guy 'advised' MJ that due to his bad advanced stats he shouldn't be risked. I didn't see the game but he finished with even for +- so any pucks going in were covered by goals scored. Makes no sense when you have fatigued players - someone gave permission to hit the big RED button. if they are that bad waive them & bring up the AHL guys that are apparently better!

have you looked at that roster right now? even when healthy, top to bottom, it's not a supremely talented roster. it's very top heavy with little depth. Shero and Rutherford have not done a good job in that regard. and there's no Carey Price or Pekka Rinne back there either.

that said, the Pens likely punched their ticket with that point last night, considering they close against Buffalo. that point could be the one that crushes Ottawa.

Sad part is Fleury has been terrific IMO. Thought that score could have been 11-3 last night.

We got beat by a group of AHLers last night, that had more desire to win than we did.

Although some people here believe that Stone and Hoffman are elite top 6 players in this league.... I wish I was joking.

15 points ahead of Ottawa last month to this? It's an epic collapse! To say otherwise is foolish.

The effort over the last couple of games has been there, but it's poorly placed. After the first period last night they looked like my dog chasing the ball. The system Johnston is running was fubar'd, now it's nonexistent.

Good thing Buffalo is on the schedule, we always seem to play well against non-playoff....oh.
