I like the Spaling line I think they can be very good

God help us if the Pens can't score on Dallas' goaltending. They've been awful this year and sank the team's chances.

Don't get me started on fashion. I don't own denim and I don't wear socks when it's <60°F.

Malkin or Crosby being injured doesn't make the Penguins any less a one-line team.

I really wish the Penguins had traded for Schneider when he was on the market. Fans are so hesitant to move on from a goalie who has either won a championship or has been treading water (or both).

Everyone imagined the Devils being a laughingstock again once Brodeur retired. As we can see, the Devils don't have any problems with goaltending and they haven't since they pulled the plug on Brodeur. MAF having what amounts to a career has helped to disguise the team's woes in much the same way but I still think another personality would help the Penguins tremendously with their Metro Division problems and would have helped the team's playoff psyche.

I digress. The lines look fine and it is my hope that the proposed Spaling line stays intact and acts as the 3rd line. If you can' get past Sutter playing more minutes because of his salary, the Kings won the thing with Mike Richards playing on the 4th line.

Schneider doesn't exactly have a stellar playoff history. When the Nucks were good it was a coin toss over who would flop more. Schneider or Luongo.

Granted, but when half of the fans want the other guy in the net and you don't have the coaching staff's backing unless you're posting a .935, performance suffers. Luongo was the team captain for a while and couldn't have been any more emblematic of those soft Canucks teams. Not an easy situation to have been placed into.

Just checked his stats, in the 12-13 playoffs he played 2 games and allowed 9 goals. I don't see that as any improvement over MAF and worth moving assets for.

But MAF isn't our problem. Not this year at least. And I wouldn't give the Devils much credit. Not a laughingstock, they've done enough to stay decent, but they're just a boring team. If I were them I'd look to start the rebuild ASAP

Making a G captain was just stupid. That Nucks team had a good defense, they never should have been that bad. But when the media and fans literally burn the city down for bad performance, its hard to play your best.

The only way the Pens could have upgraded MAF is if he had 1 yr less on his old contract. Then they could have gone after Miller, Halak, or Hiller. I think MAF is fine, but the defense in front of him was never that good and the coaching system was brutal for a G.

I see the G position similar to NFL QB's. Sure most teams in the NFL would want Brady, Brees, Rogers, Ben or Luck, but you gotta make do with what you have and build a team to your strengths.

Still not as bad as NFL fans.

It used to be that a man had a tailor, and that tailor would guide the man in his sartorial decisions. He would assure that the clothing fit well. Cuts of a suit, appropriate fabric. Labels on the inside of the clothes. Class.

These days it's piecemeal, ultra casual stuff. The lowest common denominator has pushed every last trend to the middle. Shopping for clothes is demoralizing. Even my beloved Brooks Brothers has ruined their shirts; now every one has to be MTM. I dislike 'no-iron' shirts as much as I dislike Floridians throwing plastic rats onto the ice.

Yeah I agree, the other sad thing is how sizes have changed. Im 5'6" 158 lbs, clothes are built to fit the fattest gut in the fabric. Womens sizes the same as well. A size 6 today was a 10 in the 60's. I travel all the time, I see people in PJ's on planes stuffing their face with Sbarro, just sad.

Lundquest, Rinne, Rask, maybe Price are the Brady, Ben, Rogers etc...of the NFL.

I wouldn't say Wilson is an elite QB, but he plays smart and well enough to win. Thats how you gotta look at the G position. I can't name the starting G on every team anymore, they all are about the same.

MAF has a career playoff % of .905. Before last season's playoffs (.915), MAF has under a .900 S% every year going back to '09. Four playoffs in a row of really poor play. He's posted 3 playoffs of <.900, 5 of >.900.

Couple that with the psyche of the team when they just know somewhere that their goalie is going to allow a troubling goal and that as many as four Eastern teams can get into his head by Game 2 and I'm really liking the other guy.

No matter what happens this playoffs, MAF is here for the long haul. Say he chokes again in the playoffs, how exactly do you trade a $5.5 mil G that just got extended?

MAF will be the Pens G for the forceable future, talking about moving him is a waste of time at this point.
