A late round draft pick at this point or a 3rd tier prospect. UFA and having a miserable year. I think it's doing Florida a favor by taking that salary. I'd also give Scuderi.... One bad contract for another, but he'd nix that deal. Florida wouldn't want him either.

I think Florida would be happy with a mid round pick at this point.

I imagine you're right. The Pens have limited cap space. I'm sure they could make it work, but I'd much rather they get a better player for that limited space.

No to both of those guys.

I wouldn't mind look into two Senator players; Michalek & Greening. Both are signed to very reasonable contracts & would be a low risk/high reward scenario. Michalek when paired with top centers can put up points . Greening would could fill the void on the second line and at worse case scenario, 3rd line. I also think these players can be had for a fair price . Wont cost us nearly as much for players like Kane, Eberle, Ladd, Marleau etc...

Better options. Absolutely. It all comes down to cost and control.

Jokinen is a much better player than Flash.

you can have them both for a 7th rd pick and autograhed crosby towel or something.

michalek is probably little more than a 3rd line shutdown guy at this point. still has speed, but little in the way of offensive output.

greening is at best a................how can i put this without coming off rude.............a big giant piece of poop wannabe hockey player. he is not an NHL calibre player, and the only reason he's in the NHL is that murray took a gamble signing him to a 1-way extension after an okay season and good playoff series, hoping that he'd develop further and be a bargain....the gamble bit him in the ass.

as much as i'd LOVE to unload both players.....michalek might help your bottom six, greening might help your ECHL team.....neither player will in any way help your top six.

I feel like the Penguins are set at RW...a surplus in fact. So Boyes would be right out.

The danger with Fleischman is that he eats up the entire cap relief from Dupuis but isn't really capable of being counted on (9 goals in last 99 games) as a solution.

I would offer up the idea of Grabner but it's doubtful he's going to be moved within the Metro, if at all.

Fleischmann has had blood clot issues in the past so he would fit right in with the Penguins.

Dude...

Joke that I found in bad taste aside... What do you see in Spaling with the Pens going forward in the season? Is he looking more and more like an overpriced 4th liner, which is my thought, or does he have upside that just isn't happening yet? And can he be packaged in a trade due to being on Crosby's line which might inflate his value a tad?

ROFL! I didn't even catch that!!!

The thing with Fleischman is we don't need him anymore. So you guys all talking about a 3rd or 4th rd pick... we'd take a 97th rd pick for him. We're playing well and don't need the baggage any more. Personally, I'm shocked that we are where we are i nregards to the standings.

The sticking point in all this with Fleish is that the Pens would want FLA to eat some of his salary and they aren't prepared to do that after eating 2.2M for Versteeg...

We need another finisher, a pure goal scorer.

Would be a nice depth move. Third line left winger. Not sure he could ever be more than that. It would depend on the price. Would he and Tlusty be enough? Is that enough talet to replace what we were missing?

I don't think Bergy is available because he's a good mentor for Barkov.

Could be. But then again Jokinen said after the signing that Barkov was one big reason he signed with Fla. Juice > Bergy?

not feeling those targets at all. I'd like to see us pick up 2 players. one being a good goal scorer and the second being a hornqvist type player who gets to the net, shows some skill, and battles hard in the corners and dirty areas. if were able to get perron im all for it, but cap would be an issue. Unless were able to find another young player for cheap who could play well for us. Tlusty didn't look bad as well watching him play friday and saturday. I dont think we need an immediate trade, but our top 6 is lacking right now and should never ever have Sapling in the mix of it.

He and Barkov were together and didn't mesh very well.
