the blues aren't for real with this goaltending tandem. to think they had miller and halak and ended up settling for allen and elliot. not happening in st. louis this season.

With the scoring issues, I think its time to change up the lines...even the STL line. Something has to wake Stastny up and I think it requires Schwartz. I'd say:

Steen Backes Oshie
Schwartz Stastny Bergie
Tarasenko Lehtera (MPS/Lindstrom/Porter)
Reaves Lapierre Ott

Also have to stop bumping Ott up onto a scoring line in the middle of the second period.

Goaltending isn't the problem. Allen got screwed by his defensemen a couple times tonight.

You are a tard. Do you really think the Canadiens played a penalty free game????? Merlin is a cheap shot piece of crap. A bunch of hacks that apparently do not abide by the same rules the teams they are playing do.

You can score all night long when you are all alone with a goaltender because your defensive coverage sucks and your coach is a retard worried about line changes and thinks he needs to play four lines when one is useless most shifts and just cannot figure out how to run a team or adapt. You cannot worry about match ups if you are ignoring the situation on the ice.

Hitch just needs to go. He is a dinosaur in this league.

How come the last two nights we played teams that swarm you in their defensive zone but all night long there are huge gaps, time and space in our defensive zone???? Line changes, no one covering the cherry pickers. No refs calling cross checks to the head or slashes, elbows, sticks to the faces unless you are Magnus Paajarvi it is perfectly legal.

The last few games I have seen teams go the entire game with out being called for a freaking penalty and one of them was the Blues and I am telling you right now they got away with a couple of obvious ones.

I cannot wait to see the Canadiens choke again this season. Another year and another Cup won by an American team woot woot!

That is silly. Why would you break up one line because one player is having a hard time with it? It was an epic fail tonight. Should have kept Steen, Oshie and Backes together. Stastny just needs to find his game. Since he got hurt he mostly has sucked and lost puck battle after battle. He does not look like his normal self. I do not read much into it other than him finding his game. Let him find it with less ice time till he earns it back.

Starting to agree on this one. I can not, for the life of me, figure out why he likes Ott so damn much. Running pairs is fine but don't throw a pylon out with your offensive guys and take away your offensive options.

Maybe it is silly, but I think it is worth a shot. You can always go back to it after a couple of games if its not working.

I think Stastny is still under 80%. He needs someone that will be able to actually go into a corner and pry a puck loose.

Bitter? Probably will go to an American team... That said maybe one day American Born players will count for maybe more than 6 players in the top 50 of the league. Maybe two in the top 15 would be cool too. Also maybe one day the Blues might pop their cherry and win a cup. What a day that will be. also maybe one day it would be cool to see American players be the top of their team and win the cup.

Ps I like the blues. Hitch, a stupid Canadian, is actually a great coach. Have faith. Btw maybe one day we will see an American in be among the top coaches in the league.

Just trash talking. Someone said our goaltending sucked.

Plenty of American coaches have won the Cup and are considered top coaches.

The highschool I went to has produced four NHL players and a number of other pro hockey players. Stastny(Paul and Yan), Bishop, Butler and Komadoski.

How many guys did you play hockey with who have played in the NHL?

I have always love the Canadiens. I just get pissy with trolls dissing my team.

P.s. Where is your leading scorer from?

Am I alone in thinking Statsny and Oshie looked GREAT tonight? They had a lot of good chances. Shaty's turnover sucked, but he has been our best dman by far he's allowed to make some mistakes now and then. As far as Allen goes he showed tonight that he is a rookie and still needs to shake off some nerves. It was a big game for him tonight in front of his hometown croud. Hitch and the blues are fine. It's funny how quickly we forget about the huge win streaks we just had... There is no problem yet.

I agree. I recall the Oilers rushing back the Nuge too soon after he hurt his shoulder. Now it is finally healed and he looks a lot better.

I just recall many a team and the Blues splitting up a great line to spread the wealth and it rarely seems to work. The Blues have tons of depth. Maybe you are right they should move Schwartz to another line. He is a dominant player and looks good with Backes. They have not yet tried someone like Magnus, Berglund or Lidstrom with Tarasenko and Lehtera. Or perhaps Oshie.

While penalty free certainly didn't happen, its worth noting that Montreal is the 9th most penalized team and the 25th for PP opportunities.

Montreal are very far from perfect but for the last 5 years they have often been at the bottom of PP opportunities vs PK situations; stereotypes are funny that way; no truth needed to them.

Do you think St Louis only committed 2 penalties? Also unlikely - sometimes they go your way, sometimes they don't.

Stas did look a lot better tonight but he has not looked as dominant as he has in the past since he got hurt.

Oshie has been awesome since he returned. I personally enjoyed seeing, I think it was Emelin, cross check him in the head from behind.

I think the Blues got away with some as well. The first call was weak as far as interference goes. Right before then Magnus and PK fell to the ice and PK did the leg wrap thing I always hated when. I played. The ref was right there and Mags was trying to skate away with one free leg and dragging PK. Obvious hold.

I just think that hockey reffing at all levels is bad but recently the officiating has been wildly inconsistent. I am not one who does not enjoy a good battle but if you take away a scoring chance to the sin bin. If you are on offense and you commit a penalty you should most especially be called.

Jaybo/Pie pairing was bad on goals 2 and 3. At this point, their play is at least a trend if not concerning. It definitely isn't $12mm worth.

I'm not hitting the panic button on them yet but they definitely need to get some things figured out though none of it will matter if the team can't score.

Randall relax! Montreal media pointed out for the last 2 days how good the Blues are. They are 12-6-1! It's not all doom and gloom. I think the 1st place Habs deserve a little credit.

I vote this the most rational post on the board.

It's easy to Blame the goaltender or get frustrated at Cole for his brain farts or Pietrangelo for not being at his best but this is still one of the top teams in the league in goals against. Hard to get too upset with the defense as a whole.

I thought the line of Steen Stastny Oshie showed a lot of promise. Realistically, these are your three best offensive players not named Lehtera Schwartz or Tarasenko, so they need to be together so they can develop some chemistry and start chipping in points. You cant be a top team with just one scoring line.

That's the biggest issue so far this season, solidifying two lines around the STL line.

I agrre on that pair of D. I am a little disappointed in Pietro play last game.

But man do you guys have a marvelous team. I'm kind of jealous even if the Habs are pretty good too.

Don't worry for the last 2 games. They played two of the best 4 eastern teams. It will come along sooner than later.
