WWE gets 3,500 people in a 4,000 seat arena for a SD house show and they're having trouble. AEW gets 800 people in a convention center which fits 2,000 for a ppv and it is a sign of great things

they'll flame out. just from stuff i've read it sounds like they're (frank)ed in the ass anyway because they're trying to cater to two completely different audiences at the same shows. half of the matches are serious wrestlers doing serious wrestling matches and the other half are goofy novelty wrestlers doing goofy novelty matches. problem is the hardcore wrestling fans hate the novelty wrestling/wrestlers/fans and the novelty wrestling fans hate the old school serious wrestling/wrestlers/fans.

if i had gone to see that epic cody/dustin match but had to sit through the match with the amputee to get to it, i'd have been (frank)ing pissed.

i think their shows are largely fine from the outside looking in. they're catering to the hardcore fanbase that lives and breathes indy poop and loves to watch grainy footage of random wrestlers and foreign poop. guys that have group chats for wrasslin and get off about being snooty (like daeth). that's cool and theres an audience there.

but i don't think theres more than a few thousand people in a major metro area like that at most. once these shows become so regular that people stop travelling for them i'm really curious to see how their ticket numbers look. same with the cards once they burn through all these fantasy indy matches they're promoting and they have to have jericho v Cody 8

you're doing it right if those guys stuck out to you because they were real standouts of their time. you could go make a glass of chocolate milk during the tom zenk match but if arn or mr. perfect were out that was the reason you were watching the show so you were glued to that part.

watching young chris benoit matches is awesome too. it doesn't even matter who he's wrestling. he was just so intense and his moves all looked like they hurt.

i liked Benoit and Angle a lot because they always made it look like they were actually in a fight. they were great at twisting an arm just a little bit more than normal without hurting their opponent.

Earthquake is radical too. I watched some stuff a while ago from some run where he was battering Hogan AND Warrior! He was fatter than anyone else they had but he could move pretty well and his coked out shouty promos were pretty good. the ropes also bent like (frank) when he was running them

i think i actually remember a benoit vs. eddie guerrero match from my youth. like ages ago. it could just be one of those things where your mind romanticizes things from your childhood but i feel like i remember a match from that long ago because it was that good.

Remember Meng? He was in that too. He had a match against Luger. I don't remember anything other than at one point Luger doing like some sort of deadweight toss with Meng and being like "holy (frank) Lex".
