I thought about that islanders/sabres situation for a quick minute....picking 1st and second would be like a blessing from the hockey gods.

Ken Campbell is one of the worst hockey writers out there IMO (professionally anyway). Most of his articles usually have an awful premise, and he thinks he is being edgy and forward thinking . But he is so far off based it just gets me irritated trying to finish one of his "articles".

I wouldn't take his predictions to heart.

I like to be an optimist . But that is too optimistic for me . I want the Sabres to be good . But not ready to hand them Stanley Cups yet.

I think the Cup will be won by Buffalo well before 2020

I'm not one to be overly optimistic, but with all of the talent they have been able to bring on board, I sure hope they are contending for a cup by 2018, not won it but at least a serious contender.

I don't think you can put a specific year on us getting the cup. The main thing is being competitive again and always being in the hunt. Cups will come.

Right now Buffalo is stacked with young talent and that will only be compounded with next year's deep draft. They won't keep all the pieces but it will be interesting to see how management trades in order to balance out a contender.

Since we are speaking on hypotheticals right now, wouldn't 2020 be a weird year then for Buffalo.

Sabres win the cup, but that is the one year in the Bills lease where a new owner could opt out and move them for "peanuts".

Buffalo and their fans would be joyous and freaking out at the same time.

(Btw, I do not believe the Bills will leave, just speaking on how the 2 teams in the area would be at completly different ends of the spectrum).

I'm jealous of Buffalo's prospect depth and draft picks. So much for Murray to play with to build a true contender sooner than later.

Boy Michael you sure do like to analyze what other hockey writers and journalists say in your blogs. Interesting...

I think it won't be long before Montreal and Buffalo are duking it out for top spot in the East.

Also, I never thought I would say this, but if you are a Buffalo fan I would advise getting a Ville Leino jersey before it is too late. Before you call me insane, hear me out. Sam Reinhart is going to wear #23 for the Sabres, the same number as Leino. On NHL.com, you can order a Leino jersey for $71. There are tons of places out there that will take of the Leino name plate for cheap (including the Sabres store, I believe) and replace it with a Reinhart one.

So if you are looking for a Reinhart jersey in the neighbourhood of $80-90, act now!

The Hockey News is the single worst hockey related website online. It also has the worst writers, Campbell being the pinnacle of that. That aside, i'm excited to see what the Sabres do from here on out.
