THe old core is truly all gone . Cept for Stafford. He was a late comer and seems his status on the team might be short lived. Contract year? Lets see if he can make it a career year.

I don't know if coincedence or done on purpose but the pick that TM traded away the other day was a DR acquisition. I think TM might be trying to rid the team of anything Darcy related.

hmmm...staff wasn't a part of "le core," he played "core-like" though...

an afterthought just after posting this piece...benning was head scout when they drafted staff...a solid year by drew could pique Vancouver's interest...

methinks staff would work well with the sedins...sheesh..if kassian and pyatt could make it work, how much moreso would staff?

They just promised Radim Vrbata that he would play with the Sedins... it was how they closed the deal on signing him.

The 2016 2nd round pick (from MIN) used to acquire Josh Gorges was not acquired by Regier... it was acquired via the Moulson/McCormick deal at the deadline by Murray this past season.

wonder if he ends up playing well and murray keeps him?...when he does, he's a pretty solid power forward

Doesn't mean they won't struggle together to find chemistry and/or Vancouver decides they need more size on that line down the road... things change and anything can happen. I think the Oilers really wanted Stafford until they acquired Purcell for Gagner... just a hunch. I also think the Red Wings really want Tyler Myers... conversation starts with Anthony Mantha in return, but doesn't stop there.

I'm hoping . he played better last season and with some descent line mates he could be the
Staff we want. He isn't flashy so he might fit well if he can start producing.

staff drives me crazy...but I really think his development was stunted when "le core" got into his head...before that, with the likes of drury and briere, he was a budding young power forward

Agreed . Don't know for sure but I think he fell into the old cores mind set . Now that he was called upon to set an example for the rest of the team , he has stept up his game. Only way is up for all the players on the team.

I guess we'll see how far up...they added some very good players, but they have no depth whatsoever...

which is fine for next season

An interesting point about "enforcers going the way of the dinosaur."
When you have a "regier style team" you need an enforcer.
When you have a Boston, LA, or what i think a Murray team is going to be, you dont.
