It's a pretty safe move. He can be a very serviceable 3rd/4th liner. I'd sure as hell play him rather than Greening or Neil that's fosure.

Good depth signing......has the potential to be this years MacArthur. Also gives puempel another year in the AHL, which is never a bad thing.

Maybe means greening on his way out .....I know, wishful thinking

He'd clearly be 2nd line talent on this team.

He's an upgrade over Michalek......

Actually, what he'd do is hopefully get Neil off of smiths line

Greening - smith - pouliot

They aren't going to pay him 3 million + a year to play on the 4th line. jesus.

He'd be perfect on the 3rd line with a Eric Condra.

Trade Greening, Prince for Leddy
Play Condra-Smith-Pouliot on the 3rd line
4th line will be a prospect line...
Now that's AWESOME.

Who exactly is bumping him off the 2nd line in your mind?

Well, smith is good, and maybe substituting another good player for Neil actually gets that line going. A line with 2 good players will usually be a good line

Yeah, um Ryan and MacArthur are clearly the 1st line with Turris....
So that leaves Stone, who hasn't proven anything at the NHL level.

I was just naming the 4 wingers who'll play in the top six

I see that, but the question I posed was clearly about the 2nd line.

Everyone and their mum knows who the 1st line will be this year.

I actually think MacArthur and stone play with Turris, and Ryan and new acquisition play with zibby.....spreads the offense out a bit

That's the reason I just named 4, as I don't think it's clear who's 1st and who's 2nd line

Stone is very underrated top-6 player.
2nd line: (from Trade/Michalek/Pouliot)-Zib-Stone

I don't think they are going to break up their only successful line from last year to start the season.

Benoit Pouliot:

"Pouliot is a very talented player who has yet to put it all together at the pro level. An explosive skater with a good handle on the puck and a hard, accurate shot, he has the tools to be a top-line forward in the NHL. Questions about his attitude, commitment to playing defense and consistency have dogged him since turning pro however. If he can master the mental side of the game and learn a more disciplined approach to the game, he could be a top talent"
- Hockeys Future

For me there's no doubt when Sidney Crosby, Bobby Ryan, and Jack Johnson are the only guys taken in front of you in your draft class that means you have a lot of natural skill (world class). It's unlikely he'll ever get to reach that -- but has a few things you can't buy - speed and size. It's also a big thing that he WANTS to play here. I think bringing him in is a great fit but hopefully not the "big move(s)" we're hoping for this week

Stone has played 25 games in the NHL. I know they are high on him in the organization but calling him "underrated" as a top six player? He's barely played in the league man.

Stone is a very underrated player. He's easily a top-6 winger
Depends on who we get for Spezza or how Michalek plays this coming season in order to decide who will play on the 2nd line
2nd: (trade from Spezza/Michalek/Pouliot)-Zib-Stone
Hoffman can play 3rd line wing if Pouliot moves up.

Anyone know the answer to this . . . . . fill in the blanks . . .

2005 NHL top 5 picks:

1.
2.
3.
4. Benoit Pouliot
5.

100% Agree with this. Mac-Turris-Ryan is untouchable
I don't believe in the whole break up offense in order to even things out.
