What do you think it would take for the Oil to acquire Griffin Rienhart from the
Islanders? Would we want him? good size, good blood lines.....the city loves him from junior.......What would it cost? Hamilton and Lander? thoughts?

Hamilton and Lander? Hamilton hasn't shown (frank) all and Lander at best is projecting as a 3rd line center.

He is a top 5 pick from 2 years ago that has continued to improve. If the Isles were open to picks/prospects which I doubt they would be they would want our 1st rounder at the very least.

I just don't see them trading him though as they have defense problems of their own.

Honestly, I wouldn't even target him. It's just not going to work. The Isles just have too much struggles on defense and can't afford to move a guy like Reinhart unless they are getting a better d-man back.

I also don't think it's wise of us to be using assets on d-men that aren't NHL ready and aren't a guarantee to be in the NHL next year in a top 4 role. We need to target guys that are either in the NHL now or are ready in the AHL right now but haven't been able to make their NHL club because of depth at the position in the NHL.

Teams to look at would be PHX and CBJ off the top of my head. Now I don't know which of their d-men would fit into the mold we would need but PHX has Stone, Murphy, Schmleko(older at 26), Runblad in the NHL and then Gormley in the AHL. CBJ has Murray, Savard, Prout in the NHL and then Erixon in the AHL. Not sure which of those guys would be available, but those are the types of teams we would be able to get one of their younger high end potential d-man simply because they have a lot of younger ones and they have a lot of other options with vets in the NHL.

On a good day, Hamilton and Lander would get you a VHS copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Part 3.
