New coach, new generation of prospects and available spots all through the line up. Discuss...

Is Gaunce ready? Will another season of Junior help his development much? If he makes this team is as a center or winger?

Is Jensen playing himself out of contention for a spot?

Horvat situation is clearly win win by having the Memorial Cup experience this season.... and possibly WJC. Is he bound for the Juniors regardless of his play?

Does Corrado start in the NHL or AHL?

Many more questions.... post up.

Personally, I don't see Gaunce working out as a winger, he's not appreciably better than Weise, or Sessito to warrant taking their spot on the 4th line, and as a center, if he wants to take the 3 or 4C, he's got to work on his footwork and speed as he's always a slight step behind the play.

Jensen's been outshown by HS so far, at least offensively and he could probably use a full year in the AHL to adapt better to the NA game.

Horvat definitely needs to be sent down, regardless of how talented he is, the experience he'll get playing for a Mem Cup as captain of the Knight and a potential gold medal at the WJC would benefit him more than playing 10-12 minutes a night on the Canucks. This year is going to be a mediocre year anyways, better to let him and HS dominate in Junior one more year before bringing them up.

As for Corrado, he starts in the NHL on the 3rd pairing with Garrison and the two of them will likely be on the 1st PP unit.

Gaunce very close. Hunter very close.

Edler is becoming expendable and Booth is back Saturday.

I really wish Canucks would consider a major trade very soon,I know it is pre-season but I still think this team is not a contender.

The advantage Gaunce has how ever little it is over the players you listed and Jensen as well is that he does play center. If it comes down to this for the Canucks much needed center right now, thats pretty thin down the middle. Being able to send Gaunce down to the AHL would make the decision to cut him so much easier thats for sure. Even if Schroeder fills in the 3rd line c, its still pretty thin with Kesler's injury history.

I think a Pleks deal is a mid-season trade. I would like to see what our prospects can do at the nhl level. At least for the first 9. Let's see how good this coaching staff is. Hopefully a solid system can make up for a lack of experience.

If the season's going sideways then pull the trigger.

I dont see much happening this year with trades. I think management sinks or swims with the line up and welcomes a better drafting position. Next season there will be a cap increase. Quietly ahead they are going to look for now.

New coach, big cap decrease, Olympics, injuries(hope not),,,, these all will be mentioned late season Im sure.

When it's all said and done, IMO, it'll look something like this come the first month of the regular season.

Daniel Henrik Kassian
Booth Kesler Burrows
Hansen Richardson Hansen
Sestito ??? Weise

I'm not sure where Schroeder fits in? The kids all need more development at forward but I could see Corrado making it. Andersson is already better than Alberts and Eriksson looks better than Lack to me???

Edler for Pleks is the only thing I got out of his message there...and if Gillis traded a top 4 defenseman on nearly every team in the league, for a guy that would be our 3rd line center...I would stop watching entirely Edler is worth more than that...Pleks is worth around what Roy was traded for to the Canucks, maybe a little more due to his contract being longer...but then if that happened, pleks would be a $5 mill 3rd line center...that would be (frank)ing stupid...and not even possible... (cap wise) the only thing I would trade on the current roster for Pleks is Booth...they can handle his health problems there...I really could care less about booth...

Sounds like Horvat is continuing right where he left off last year. Shinkaruk's injury really has slowed him down, he's really gonna need to bulk up or he's not going to last an 82 game in the NHl or even AHL IMO.

Can we still consider Schroeder and Kassian prospects? They're certainly "projects".

Cassels has been the biggest pleasant surprise and Jensen the worst
