Thanks Bill. 2 totally unrelkated questions:

- What do you personally feel will happen with Laughton this year? They're fairly set in the top 9, and if Hall is your 4th line center, it makes Laughton a 4th line winger. I have no issue with it but, assuming he doesn't look out of place in camp, what do you think they do with him?

- Do you have any insight (on do you have a gut feeling) on whether Gostisbehere will play all 4 years of NCAA, or if he'll leave Union after this season?

I'm curious as to why Laughton didn't get much PT at the WJC evaluation camp.

All I can think of is that they expect him to make the Flyers and want to give more PT to the players more assured of playing juniors this year.

I doubt Laughton gets damaged with another year in Oshawa. There's enough depth even before Gagne returns, and unless Laughton clearly earns a job-not just keeping him because he doesn't look out of place-then I'm predisposed to returning him to junior.

My only concern with him returning is that he gets complacent/lazy in Oshawa and develops bad habits (sort of like what people said happened to Schenn/Coots with the AHL).

That is my biggest fear. I dont think it will hurt him permanently, but the bad habits could out weigh the good of being the team leader/offensive improvements.

It's a valid concern. But Laughton will be the top center this year with the Generals. Hopefully he'd be fired up to prove the Flyers wrong for keeping him in the OHL

I have that concern as well. It's just unfortunate that he can't play in the AHL yet. I have a feeling he will come to camp and make it clear that he belongs.

Hey guys good morning. Just catching up from days of being away.
So Shelley retires (no surprise) but goes to Columbus? Interesting. I wish him the best.
I'll skip the Bryz conversation
And honestly until training camp we can speculate all we want about Laughton but he's gonna have to prove that he belongs. It's not a bad place for him to be - let's see some hunger.

If he does go back to juniors, I think he plays in the WJC unless he has a major regression.

Eating contest between him and Rosehill. Winner gets the roster spot, loser foots the bill.

heard about shelley going back to columbus. wish him well too, but glad he's not yet another former enforcer the flyers find a job for.

haven't heard anything about bryz. i checked out over the last few days. now i have to dig.

I never had a problem with Shelley, but (and I think I speak for most fans) I had a problem with the contract. A Rosehill-type contract would be fine, but Shelley was grossly overpaid in amount and term. Why does Holmgren get hard-ons for guys who have 1-2 good games against the Flyers?

same, and i think pretty much everyone would agree. That said, i'm at the point where i'm done with signing rosehill types.

In theory Rosehill can both skate and play to a higher level than Shelley could at the end of his career. I'll wait and see.

I don't mind having an enforcer.. if you're going to use him. If i'm going to have an enforcer I want one that is going to make people fear hitting our stars. No one feared Shelley or Cote. No more nice fighters, I want a guy who is going to grab a guy and beat his face in for doing something wrong. If he's not willing to go Berube on others, I don't want him or feel the need for an enforcer.

Rosehill didn't look completely out of place in his few games. Definitely more speed than Shelley, but then again, that's not a great feat (for an NHLer).

Apparently, that's what we have Jake Voracek for.

Does anyone know how long the town hall meeting is expected to go tonight? I was at a festival this weekend and my body is in shambles, I doubt I could make it more than 2 hours.
Also, if anyone wants to go, let me know, I have an extra ticket.

I wouldn't worry too much. I think bringing Laughton up and giving him only bottom-feeder minutes is possibly even worse than another year in Junior. If I'm the Flyers, I don't rush him at all. We don't need him right now, as we have too many natural centers as-is.
