actually if the refs called one of the 7 penalties we would have won the game.

marchand water bottle toss
crowed tossing poop on the ice
lucic hit from behind
rask punch to lupul's face
chara had about 3 headshots, but we all know how that goes
or a delay of game seeing as every game they would take someone off on an icing and kill 30 seconds

i think they are trying to make kerry fraser feel better really.

basically, the reffing this year was the worst its ever been in the NHL, no matter what team your cheering for...for the most part

- big_dion

Yup.

They (the NHL) can't make up their minds, what is more important to them - keeping a few select owners happy over the gentrification of the game - versus ensuring GaryB's desert investment doesn't look to bad.. very tangled web.

Oh yah... then throw in special considerations such as ensuring teams that might go bankrupt get the best draft pick to save the franchise.

All to complicated for me to understand.

On a serious note, I think the biggest issue is consistency across officials. Its pretty apparent that different officials call things differently, not only game to game, but two officials have different interpretations within the same game. Must drive the players to distraction.

and enjoyable
- dt99999

yup... enjoyable... like watching a Leafs-Sens playoff series...

I hope for Crusty's sake that the Sens organization isn't stupid enough to retire his jersey on a night when they are playing the Leafs, it will be terrible for him to booed more than cheered in his own building.

And hopefully the Sens organization does a decent job of putting his highlight film together ... 'cause if they just take one from youtube they probably get him shooting the puck at Neidermeyer, or being hit by Bell or maybe the hit on Tucker - followed by the post series handshake... all notable career events.

Geez I wsihed he hadn't embellished so much on that hit by Bell... that was embarrassing.

i am seeing a couple differing opinions concerning reffing.

ultimately here is how i see it

men do not blame others when they fall short of achieving a goal...

thats what children do.

the leafs didnt get it done. not this year and not in 93.

its on their shoulders and no one else's.

Listening to Sens fans going batpoop crazy about the reffing against Pittsburgh while Pittsburgh was just laying the wood to them was the topper. It's proof that most ref bashing is baseless. They're not perfect. People need to deal with it.
- DoubleDown

i think we all know refs arent perfect nor should anyone expect them to be

the thing that pisses people off is in the regular season you sneeze wrong and you get 2 for interference or hooking , but in the playoffs you can literally break someones nose with an elbow and dont get a call because the team of the guy with the infraction is loosing by too much.... but if the winning team does something that is hardly boarderline they are getting called

THere should be one standard from puck drop opening night of the season to game 7 of the finals

you dont see the nfl let offsides go just because a team is loosing, or ignore a facemask do you

just saying i think its more people are frustrated as a whole with the pathetic nhl refereeing, more so than blaming their teams exit on referees

How about the high stick that Chara got in the Rangers series? To hit Chara up high, it should be pretty obvious.

I don't know the solution, but every fan of every team could quote countless examples on this topic.

Enjoy your summer vacation. On to the Conference finals

Sooooo....

Do we take a run at Richards?

Not gonna like to you: I'd rather have him at $4 milly X 3 years than Bozak at $4 milly X 3 years.
