Chip McCleary: Game 4, Blues at Kings - GDT (Now with extra Tarasenko!)
Series H, Blues lead 2-1.

My boy Tarasenko, hopefully he sparks the offensive game a little bit. He exploded his first game in the regular season, let's see his game when it matters most.

Would have rather seen MacDonald sit. He's running for his life this series and coughing up pucks like its his job.

Yet another example of why I think the RTSS data is bogus: McDonald is credited with more hits (2) in the playoffs so far than giveaways (1). I really wish the NHL would also list the number of hits taken by players - even if it's not exactly accurate either.

Don't they rely on the stadiums statisticians for the data? And that's when "what is a giveaway" "what is a takeaway" "what is a hit and what isnt?" comes in to play and that's basically opinion.

GOAL! Backes finally buries an open-net chance, playing the rebound off the boards behind Quick. Saturday night, that would have been fired in front of Quick, into Quick, above the crossbar, wide short-side, ....

Blues 1, Kings 0.

Fraser clips Reaves with an inadvertent high-stick in the offensive zone. Blues to the power play - or as it might be more accurately described at times, the "powerless" play.

Steen just about beat Quick blocker-side; it wasn't nearly as apparent until you saw the replay. Not sure that if Backes had gotten his stick on it, it would have gone it.

GOAL! Shattenkirk rips one from the blueline, and Oshie gets a stick on it. I think it would have gone in even without the tip. PP goal with 4 seconds left on the Fraser penalty, and good work by Oshie, Perron and Berglund to keep the puck in the zone there.

Blues 2, Kings 0.

Doughty and Steen both go off after a battle in the corner. Meh, that could have been let go on both of them unless they had gotten into it some more.

4-on-4.

Goal for the Kings. Oshie muffs the pass, Polak gets caught up ice, and Jackman falls down, and it's a 2-on-1 the other way with Richards feeding Carter who slides it underneath Elliott after Oshie hauls ass back but can't knock down the pass with his stick.

Blues 2, Kings 1. We now have as many goals in 9:33 tonight as we've had in all of either Game 1 or Game 2.

I get what Perron is trying to do but he needs to be careful to keep the circus under control... that last one was BAD

... and just like that, it's a brand new hockey game as Leopold screws up trying to pinch and Shattenkirk plays pylon on the Kings 3-on-1 with Penner finishing it off past an outstretched Elliott.

Blues 2, Kings 2. At this rate, we'll have more goals tonight than in the first 3 games combined.

It's worse than Chelsea Dagger. I don't mind goal songs, but the Cartman chat bugs the hell out of me.

1st period summary
1. ST. LOUIS, Backes 1 (Bouwmeester, Sobotka), 1:12.
2. ST. LOUIS, Oshie 1 (Shattenkirk, Perron), 4:32 (pp).
3. LOS ANGELES, Carter 1 (Richards, Regehr), 9:33.
4. LOS ANGELES, Penner 1 (Stoll, Martinez), 14:30.

Shots on goal: St. Louis 11, Los Angeles 6.

That was the Blues period until the odd-man rush that led to the Carter goal; from there, it was kind of even until the odd-man rush that led to the Penner goal - and after that, I thought the Kings had the better play. (Note to Blues: quit giving up odd-man rushes!)

That period felt like most of the games between these two teams before this series started: Blues plug away, get a couple goals, then pretty much hand it over in a pair of plays that combined take up about 8-12 seconds ... and that's how they'd end up losing those games - because those short lapses let the Kings back into games they wouldn't have otherwise had a chance in.

Let's see how the Blues respond in the 2nd.

Yes, and despite most Kings fans hating it Staples keeps it going. I loathe it.

That commercial for Facebook Home might be one of the worst commercials I've ever seen - and there's been a lot of terrible commercials over the years.
