the OT penalty call on Mark Streit may have been iffy, but it wasn't a total and complete dive by Crosby either. Close to the net, hands off the stick, ... that's going to get called, like it or not.

My thought was this: it was clearly a penalty - guy gets beat, reaches around and pulls on his shoulder. The only question for me was whether Crosby should have been called for a dive as well (making it 4 on 4).

NY Islanders vs. Pittsburgh - the OT penalty call on Mark Streit may have been iffy, but it wasn't a total and complete dive by Crosby either. Close to the net, hands off the stick, ... that's going to get called, like it or not. It's clear that when the Penguins want to play, they can dominate the Islanders. When they don't, though, the Islanders have enough firepower to make things difficult and swipe a game. Staying motivated through this series may be the biggest problem Pittsburgh has, but the play of Marc-Andre Fleury in net is going to be a problem for the Pens going forward.

Can you track down your fellow Blues fan Winning and explain that to him.

Anyways, I hope this series continues to be nasty, it has been fun to watch. And holy poop are both teams huge.

Leave it to a penguins fan to jump into other peoples blogs to complain about people bad mouthing whiny Crosby. Stick with your other cry baby fans you can all cry with crosby together. Islanders in 6!

Anyone want to play caption this photo?

How about - I thought you said you could see the Chilean minors through the ice.

I hate, hate, hate the "trip/dive" call. Either call the trip, or call the dive - don't call both. In fact, if there's a dive then don't even bother calling the trip; there's no deterrent to diving if the worst thing that happens is that both guys go off.

Hear, hear. Diving calls should overrule anything else. Nothing will add integrity back to the game until players start getting embarrased. And this coming from a Kings fan. I know, right?

I'd be more impressed if it had come from a Canucks fan.

So, if a player gets whacked the face with a high stick and is bleeding profusely, but accentuates the call, the player who used his stick gets nothing and the guy gushing blood all over the ice gets 2 minutes?

Way to misinterpret what Chip said and run with it.
He was talking directly about the tripping/diving calls.

In that scenario, if he's bleeding as you say, It would be a penalty on the high stick Player only.

Exactly. I mean, I can't tell you how many times I've seen a guy gets high-sticked and blood is drawn, and he embellishes by flinging himself down to the ice in response.

If you really want to get them out of the game, add decent size fines to them as well or make them suspension worthy at some point. Of course, the NHLPA would never go for either of those ideas.

"They say this stuff is supposed to taste like a Coke slushy."
"Oh, poop. Where'd my contact go?"
"Oh, poop. Where'd the pin that keeps my back together go?"
"Might as well lay here like this, the Blues can't put one on net anyway."
"Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!"
"My nipples are hard as rocks right now."

Hmmm....not sure I didn't remember this until now...Quick and Perron have some history...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Qitov4j9dg

And for Charlest i think it was that was asking about whether Drew pushed Perron into quick....the replay is in the the link below..

http://prohockeytalk.nbcs...-over-kings-goalie-quick/

You have to watch it very closely because the way Doughty's stick moves along with Perron's leg makes it look like he was tripped but I'm pretty sure Perron wasn't touched until after he had already fallen on Quick.
