ATTENTION Crums the blasé gamer,

From my boys at Vanillaware, here's Dragon's Crown for the PS3. A gorgeous 2D hand-painted-style beat em up set in medieval times. It is reminiscent of the Capcom Dungeons & Dragons arcade beat em ups, but it's less linear, with a central village that you can go back to and buy new weapons and stuf. You can also revisit levels to find secrets. Truly an amazing game.

Speaking of Capcom : their reboot of Strider on the PS3 is magnificent. A 3D hack and slash set in 2D gameplay style, it is blazing fast action mixed with exploration, in which you find new abilities that unlock parts of the map you previously didn't have access to. Very similar to Super Metroid and Castlevania : Symphony Of The Night.
The balance between fast, frenzied combat and being able to take the time to explore at your own pace, is very pleasing. Highly recommended.

Oh

then you could also get a Playstation TV for $40. Dragon's Crown is on there. As is Muramasa Rebirth, wich is in the same vein as Dragon's Crown. You can also download PSP games on the PS TV and there's a bunch of very good ones.
