its a chill spot for sure

example: i got really inebriated at a house party, only to wake up in a tent at a field party the next morning about 20km away with no recollection of how I got there at all. It was all good, I walked down to the main road and started hitchhiking and my dad's hockey buddy picked me up and gave me a rip home. Told him about what happened and he laughed and bought me some breakfast at Hortons on the way. I think I was 16.

It's amazing how similar this sounds to where I grew up despite being so far away.

I only did them once. I was the guy curled up just hoping for it to end. My friends kept trying to get me to do it again saying it's better when you're prepared going in.

You ever do salvia?

- PhillySportsGuy

no. i saw vids of people acting like idiots and one guy just yelling "help" over and over again.

even huey lewis doesn't want to try it that bad.

my first time my older cousin and his buddies kept acting like the puddy patrol from Power Rangers and it freaked me the (frank) out.
- Cape Breton Bruins

i did them the first time with my cousin who has always been like a sister to me. Just having that familiar voice kept me grounded enough to enjoy the ride.

I think her having the stories to retell for years was her ulterior motive though.

damn dude that sounds harsh

I don't know how many times we had beach rockers in the summer and I literally just passed out on the sand and slept there all night. One time towards the end of summer high tide woke me up. That was my only brush with disaster.

We'd have parties with like 50-60 kids way out in some gravel pit miles from anywhere. somebody would blast a car stereo all night and there'd be a bonfire. Cops would stay out on the highway and make sure everybody got home safe if they left at all.

You could pass out on the ground or in your vehicle and you'd be fine.

Yeah dude, thats the way to do it, Kids are going to party and seek out adventure. Better to accept that fact and just make sure all are safe.

The Mounties home were super chill, we knew them all and went to school with their kids.

I went ripping through town at 16 once at 80km in a 40 and got a call from one of the local mounties as soon as I was out.

She just told me to slow the (frank) down and stop being an idiot.

I asked how she got my number.

She laughed and said "Seriously? I told you to stop being an idiot." then hung up.

Nice. My closest one lives in Calgary so we bounce back and forth probably every other month and jam or whatever but I still have dozens back home. Whenever I visit I spend the whole time hammered because I have to run the gauntlet and see them all

i can't recall the number of times i left a party or a bar, realized i had no business driving and slept in my car. Only to be woken up by a cop knocking on the window asking if i was okay. explained the situation to them. they would tell you go back to sleep and they would check on you before their shift ended.

I dunno when or why this attitude changed. To me, passing out in the car and coherently explaining what's up is a reasonably responsible thing to do.

The cops don't have to babysit, but an even-handed approach seems logical.

Mind you, it's not like you could call a cab where I grew up either.

nowadays for sure. it was a bit different back then. hell, back then, if you were pulled over and got out of your car to walk over to talk to the cop, there was 99% chance you weren't getting a ticket. Now? I don't make a move until the cop is next to me and i ask for permission to reach for my DL.
