Happy Birthday HockeyBuzz. Wow, great numbers Ek! Regardless of what some people say about you or the site, the proof is in the pudding. The March towards one billion and beyond continues with or without an NHL season.

Since I haven't been following any of the lockout garbage, I don't know this or not.
If a player signs an offer sheet today (if allowed), would the team have to match immediately? If not WTF happens? - jsam7
I'm going to assume that even if the CBA allowed this, teams wouldn't bother. Main reason, they don't like doing offer sheets to begin with because of the dumb "gentleman's agreement" thing. Plus who knows, maybe compensation will change with the new CBA.
Kane is only 20 years old, he scored 30 goals without the benefit of a strong 1st line center. He should be in line for a Tavares type contract (6 yrs, $33m.). It would take a very strong package to get a deal done.
Leafs don't have the assets. Flyers might be able to do a package. But they don't want to trade guys like Schenn or Couturier. Schenn is not near the talent that Kane is. Kane will play for Canada at the next Olympics. Some, like me, believe he has the chance to be the next dominant power forward in the NHL.
Chicago has too many problem players. A Kane for Kane deal is a non starter. Winnipeg is way too small for the Chicago bad boy.
I don't think Winnipeg really has a choice but to give him his money. There are only a few teams that have the depth of talent to make a realistic offer. I would put St. Louis at the top of the list in terms of being able to put together a big package. Ottawa can offer the same deal as they did for Nash (not great interest to Winnipeg).
